Why Frisco Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Frisco is a fast-growing North Texas city with a population of 140,960, situated inside a metro area of 2.5+ million people. With steady growth of 0.70% annually, active residential development and landscaping projects are common across new neighborhoods and established yards. Frisco's climate—228 sunny days per year, 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, and USDA hardiness zone 8b—supports year-round outdoor work but also creates demands for durable site preparation and reliable drainage. Homeowners choose quality aggregates when regrading yards, building raised beds, or preparing areas for hardscapes because local soil conditions and seasonal downpours can shift low spots and affect foundation drainage. Choosing the right fill material up front reduces future settling, helps control erosion, and keeps landscaping projects on schedule.Popular Projects in Frisco This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Frisco Fill Dirt Delivery
Everything you need to know about fill dirt delivery in Frisco.
Hello Gravel offers standard delivery in 2+ business days and next-day delivery for orders placed before noon CST with an extra fee. In Frisco, many orders qualify for free delivery, but typical delivered fees when charged range from about $0 to $150 for standard delivery depending on distance and site access; next-day service can add $50 to $200. Tailgate spreading is available at the drivers discretion and, when offered, may carry an extra fee of roughly $30 to $100; minimum orders generally start at 3 tons.
Fill dirt is commonly quoted by cubic yard or by ton; delivered prices in the Frisco/Dallas-Fort Worth area typically run in the ballpark of $8 to $30 per cubic yard (roughly $10 to $40 per ton), depending on screening, distance, order size, and next-day or special handling. Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers and shows exact, upfront quotes for your zip code so you can compare suppliers, delivery windows, and any extra service fees.
For structural fill and grading in Frisco choose low-organic, screened fill dirt with a mix of sand, silt, and fines that compacts well (often sold as "fill dirt" or "structural fill" rather than topsoil). Avoid material with high organic content or trash, and for driveways place a layer of crushed stone or road base over the compacted fill for strength and drainage. If you need engineered backfill under slabs, follow your engineers specification for particle size and compaction.
One inch of material over 1,000 sq ft equals about 3.09 cubic yards. Using a common conversion (1 cubic yard of fill dirt ≈ 1.3 to 1.6 short tons), that works out to roughly 4 to 5 tons per inch for a 1,000 sq ft area. We recommend ordering 5% to 10% extra to allow for compaction, settlement, and grading adjustments.
Yes. The City of Frisco and many local HOAs have rules that can affect grading, retaining walls, visible changes to lot elevation, and driveway construction; larger grading projects often require permits and erosion control measures. Stormwater and erosion-control regulations in the DFW area can apply to any project that disturbs soil, so check with Frisco Development Services and your HOA before ordering large volumes.
Frisco sits on soils that can include expansive clays which swell when wet and shrink when dry, so moisture control and proper compaction are critical for stable results. Best practice is to place fill in thin lifts, condition moisture as directed, and compact to the percent required by your engineer or code (often 90% to 95% compaction standard); consider non-expansive engineered fill or stabilization (lime) for load-bearing areas. Also plan for positive drainage so water does not collect on the fill surface and cause movement.
Expect some settlement during the first year after placement; lightly regrading and adding material may be necessary to maintain finished elevations. Proper initial compaction and surface grading paired with good drainage (swales, gutters, and downspouts) will minimize erosion and reduce long-term maintenance. Avoid planting deep-rooted trees on uncompacted fill and monitor slopes after heavy rains for any signs of erosion.
Fill dirt is primarily fine soil used to raise grade or backfill where you dont need vegetation; it compacts but is not ideal as a driveway surface. Crusher run and road base are crushed stone mixed with fines and provide a stable, well-draining base for driveways and heavy loads. Topsoil is high in organic matter and meant for planting; typically fill dirt is the lowest-cost option per cubic yard, while crusher run/road base is more expensive but performs better for driveways.
Provide specific notes on your Hello Gravel order about required screening, maximum organic content, and compaction percent, and ask the supplier to confirm material type before delivery. If your project requires engineered fill, share the engineers specification with your contractor and request documentation or compaction testing from your supplier or the testing lab. Ordering early and communicating specs clearly reduces the chance of receiving unsuitable material.
Clear a designated drop zone and remove cars, toys, and landscaping that could block access; check for overhead wires, gates, and narrow driveways since most deliveries are made by tri-axle dump trucks. Request tailgate spreading at checkout if you want the driver to assist, but remember this is at the drivers discretion and may not be available. Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible if you need to change the delivery location, date, or quantity so we can coordinate with the supplier and hauler.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
