We deliver every gradeBase Materials 8 Stone
#8 stone is crushed rock screened between about 3/8 inch and 1/8 inch. The pieces are angular and small, so they pack down tight and still let water slip through. You'll find it under pavers, around perforated drain pipe, and mixed into the top layer of some asphalt roads.
The 8 is a screen size from the ASTM D448 spec. It tells you how big the pieces are and says nothing about what kind of rock they came from. That's why the same number shows up on a bin of limestone and a bin of granite. Expect to pay a bit more per ton than for larger base rock, since smaller pieces take more crushing and screening to make.

How to choose within base materials 8 stone
Under pavers or concrete
A crushed base — usually 3/4" minus — compacts to a solid, load-bearing pad. Uniform depth matters as much as the material.
Under a shed or hot tub
Compact 4 to 6 inches of base material. More for anything that will sit long-term.
Driveway base
Crushed limestone or road base underneath, topped with a decorative or wear layer.
