Mulch Organics
We deliver every gradeTurg Enhancer
Turf enhancer is a fine compost blend made to feed the dirt under your lawn. It's screened small so the pieces fall between grass blades and settle down to the soil. Most blends are aged compost with a little sand or fine loam mixed in, which helps it spread evenly and keeps it from clumping when it gets wet.
The name is a shortcut for "turf enhancer," which just means a topdressing you rake over your grass a few times a year. It costs a bit more than plain compost because it's screened finer and blended for lawn work. You'll usually buy it by the yard for overseeding, filling low spots, or patching bare areas after a rough summer.
What people use it for
How to choose within turg enhancer
How much depth
2 to 3 inches is the sweet spot. Deeper starves the roots; thinner lets weeds through.
Color hold
Dyed mulches keep their color for a season, sometimes two. Natural mulch fades to grey within a few months.
Fine vs. coarse
Fine mulch breaks down into soil faster. Coarse mulch lasts longer and stays put on a slope.
