Crushed Stone

We deliver every grade

610 Stone

#610 stone is a mix of crushed rock that runs from about 3/4 inch down to fine dust. The bigger pieces give it strength. The dust and small chips fill the gaps between them, so the whole load packs down tight and locks together when you roll or tamp it.

The 610 is a size grade. It's one of the numbers quarries use to sort stone by how big the pieces are, and it says nothing about what kind of rock you're getting. You'll see 610 made from limestone most of the time, but you can also get it in recycled concrete or granite. It's usually one of the cheaper stones you can buy because it uses the whole crushed batch, fines and all.

How to choose within 610 stone

Compaction over drainage

Angular pieces lock together. Pick a smaller size when you need the surface to stay put under a driveway or path.

Drainage over compaction

The larger the piece, the more room for water to move through. #1 or #57 for a French drain; #8 or smaller reads as loose gravel.

Washed vs. unwashed

Washed has the dust rinsed out, so it drains faster and won't track into the house. Unwashed compacts harder — better under a paver base.
