Local Insights
Nova is a community with a city population of 1,700 located inside a rapidly expanding metro area whose metro area population is 2.6+ million. A growth rate of 2.33% annually translates into steady demand for new homes, driveways, patios, and yard upgrades as homeowners and small developers invest in properties. In a landscape that records 228/year sunny days and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall and sits in hardiness zone 8b, material choices must balance sun exposure with moderate precipitation. That means homeowners need reliable base materials for stable foundations, soils and mulches that retain moisture without staying waterlogged, and aggregates that support proper drainage. For everyday projects—from planting beds and pathways to grading and small retaining walls—having access to quality bulk supplies (gravel, dirt, sand, mulch, and stone) suited to local conditions helps reduce rework and prolongs project life.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start with the project goal: drainage, driveway base, top dressing, or planting beds. Consider local climate and soil — materials sourced near Nova reflect West Ohio geology and performance. Use our material descriptions and the aggregate quiz to compare options like gravel, sand, dirt, and stone, and contact our team for a recommendation based on your site and budget.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide on depth in inches, then convert to cubic yards and to tons using our online calculator. Different materials pack and weigh differently, so the calculator adjusts for gravel, sand, dirt, and stone; when in doubt add 5-10% for compaction and waste. If you prefer, send dimensions to our team and we can estimate quantities for you.
Bulk delivery is usually more cost-effective for most yard and driveway projects because you pay by the ton or cubic yard and avoid handling many bags. Bagged products can make sense for very small jobs or where storage and exact color match matter. Compare total project quantity and convenience — our site shows minimum order sizes and helps you decide.
Standard delivery is typically available in 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is offered for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Materials are delivered by local contracted dump truck fleets (usually tri-axle trucks) and you'll receive a delivery window and confirmation. Exact timing depends on local supplier schedules and weather, so choose a preferred date at checkout and check your zip code for availability.
Yes — we work with local suppliers and haulers serving Nova and surrounding rural ZIP codes, though availability can vary by zip and season. Our minimum order is 3 tons; some suppliers may have higher minimums for very remote locations. Enter your ZIP at checkout or contact our team to confirm service to your specific address and any local restrictions.
Challenging access can affect delivery logistics and may incur additional fees set by the local hauler. Drivers will assess access on arrival; if a site is unsafe or impossible to service, they will contact you and our team to arrange alternatives. If you know of obstacles, note them in Order Notes and call our team beforehand so we can advise on potential charges or staging options.
Local tri-axle dump trucks commonly carry roughly 10 to 14 tons of loose aggregate, but capacity varies by truck and material density. Heavier materials and wetter conditions reduce how many tons fit in a load. If you need a specific truck size or a full-truck estimate, our team can coordinate the appropriate vehicle and quantity for your job.
Costs depend on the material you choose, the required depth, and site access rather than a single standard price. To estimate, calculate the needed quantity (area x depth) and use our pricing shown at checkout for your ZIP code; this will include hauler charges and any applicable delivery fees. If you want a ballpark, contact our team with driveway dimensions and surface goals and we will provide a customized estimate.
Drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion and where it can be done safely, but this service is not guaranteed. You can request spreading in Order Notes at checkout; the driver will assess on arrival and decide whether to proceed. For precise placement or spreading, consider hiring a landscaper or asking about additional labor options ahead of time.
Natural materials can vary in color and texture based on regional sourcing; photos are representative rather than exact matches. Contact customer service promptly if you need to change an order — we make best efforts to accommodate requests before processing but changes are not always possible once dispatched. For issues on arrival, report them right away so we can work with the supplier and hauler to resolve the situation.
