Local Insights
Oxford, Michigan (population 25,840) sits within a growing West Michigan region that includes a metro area of 2.5+ million residents. Its steady annual growth rate of 1.20% annually translates into ongoing residential upgrades, infill development, and landscaping projects—meaning steady demand for bulk materials rather than short-lived spikes. With an average of 34.25 inches of annual rainfall and 228 sunny days each year, homeowners need materials that balance drainage and durability: mixes and substrates that manage runoff during wet periods while resisting breakdown under repeated sun exposure. The area's hardiness zone of 8b supports diverse plantings and more intensive landscape installations, increasing use of topsoil, mulches, and amendment blends alongside aggregates for paths, driveways, and drainage work. In this environment, reliable access to sand, dirt, gravel, stone, and mulch helps projects stay on schedule and perform as intended in local conditions.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Just a little hiccup in the delivery date but everything worked out well and with great communication from Janel. Ordering went smoothly as well as working with the delivery team to deliver to the appropriate location for my yard.

Prices vary by material type, order size, and delivery distance; exact rates depend on local supplier costs and truck routing. Instead of guessing, get an instant quote on our site—quotes include material cost and delivery so you can compare options for your project.
Yes. Spring thaw and muddy conditions can limit safe offloading and spreading, while heavy snow or frozen ground can affect access. Plan deliveries in late spring through early fall for the easiest site access, and contact our team if you need winter or early-spring service so we can advise on timing and precautions.
Hello Gravel connects you with trusted local suppliers and contracted haulers that serve Oxford and surrounding zip codes. Availability and individual contractor delivery radii vary by supplier, so enter your zip code on our site to see which partners can deliver to your address.
Most residential deliveries start at a small load (Hello Gravel's minimum is 3 tons) and are shipped on dump trucks, commonly tri-axle trucks for larger loads. Standard delivery is included in many areas with a 2+ business day window; next-day delivery may be available for an extra fee. Truck size and access at your site determine what the hauler can safely deliver, so note driveway width and overhead clearance when you order.
Michigan freeze-thaw cycles and heavy precipitation make drainage and frost resistance important across material choices. For bases and driveways choose materials that compact well and shed water; for surface layers prefer durable, well-draining options that tolerate salt and freeze-thaw. If you are unsure, our team can suggest materials that match Oxford's climate and your project goals.
Possibly. Some townships, homeowner associations, or public roads have rules about large deliveries, weight limits, or off-street storage of bulk materials. Check with your HOA and local city or township offices before ordering, and let us know about any restrictions so we can coordinate the delivery safely.
Measure length, width, and depth in feet, multiply them (length x width x depth) and divide by 27 to get cubic yards. For example, a 20 ft by 10 ft area at 6 in (0.5 ft) deep is (20 x 10 x 0.5)/27 = about 3.7 cubic yards; round up 5-10% for compaction and waste. Use our online material calculator or contact our team for help with more complex shapes or multiple layers.
Standard delivery lead time is generally 2+ business days, but peak season (spring and summer) can push lead times longer, sometimes to a week or more. To lock in materials and your preferred date, order early and use the checkout calendar to select available delivery windows.
Because Hello Gravel sources regionally, pricing and available textures can vary based on local geology and supplier inventory. Nearby markets might have different stock levels or offer volume discounts; getting quotes for the same material and quantity will show the best comparison for your project.
Some local suppliers and contractors offer additional services like spreading, compacting, or hauling away surplus material for an extra fee, but these services are not guaranteed by dump truck drivers. You can request tailgate spreading at checkout; drivers will assess safety and capacity on arrival. For full-site prep or cleanup, consider hiring a local landscaping or contracting crew and ask us for recommendations.
Tell us about driveway width, overhead obstacles, and the best offload location in the Order Notes and during confirmation calls. To protect lawns and soft ground, schedule delivery when the surface is dry or frozen, place plywood or boards for a staging area, or ask the driver to offload closer to the street if allowed; drivers will decide the safest option on arrival.
