Washed Screenings

Washed screenings are finely crushed stone particles that have been thoroughly cleaned to remove dust, clay, and other impurities. This process results in a cleaner, more consistent material compared to unwashed alternatives. Screenings are typically a byproduct of the crushing process and are valued for their fine, sand-like texture.




The washed attribute is especially important for applications where cleanliness and drainage are priorities. By removing excess dust and debris, washed screenings reduce the risk of compaction issues and help prevent staining or cloudiness in finished surfaces. Common uses include setting beds for pavers, flagstone patios, and as a base for walkways or artificial turf. They are also suitable for use in horse arenas and playgrounds, where a clean, fine material is desired. While washed screenings offer excellent drainage and a smooth finish, they may not compact as firmly as coarser aggregates, making them less ideal for heavy load-bearing applications.
