Screenings ASTM #10

Screenings in the ASTM #10 size range are finely crushed stone particles, typically produced as a byproduct during the crushing and screening of larger aggregates. These particles are much smaller than standard gravel, often passing through a 3/16" sieve, resulting in a powdery, sand-like consistency.




The ASTM #10 specification ensures consistent sizing and quality, making these screenings ideal for applications where a smooth, compactable base is required. Their fine texture allows for excellent compaction, which is crucial for creating stable sub-bases beneath pavers, patios, and walkways. Screenings are also commonly used for horse arenas, bike paths, and as a leveling layer under artificial turf. While their small size provides a smooth finish and reduces voids, it also means they are less effective for drainage compared to coarser aggregates. Overall, ASTM #10 screenings are valued for their versatility, ease of compaction, and ability to create a solid, even surface.
