Local Insights
New Concord has a city population of 4,050 and sits within a larger metro area with a population of 2.6+ million. A steady growth rate of 2.33% annually means more homes, driveways, and yards are being built or updated — not a sudden boom, but consistent demand that keeps contractors and homeowners regularly ordering bulk materials. With 228/year of sunshine and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall in hardiness zone 8b, projects must balance drainage and drought tolerance. That combination increases the need for well-graded base materials, topsoil mixes that retain moisture yet drain, and durable surfacing aggregates that resist washout. For homeowners, this translates into a need for reliable supplies of gravel, dirt, sand, mulch, and stone in varied quantities and delivery windows to match phased projects and seasonal planting cycles.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by matching the material to the use: a high-traffic driveway needs a stable, well-compacting base, while a walkway prioritizes smoothness and appearance. Consider drainage, expected vehicle or foot traffic, desired look, and maintenance needs. Use our material calculator and quiz or call our team for help choosing a material that fits local conditions in New Concord.
Look for materials that drain well and resist frost heave; well-graded, angular materials that compact tightly typically handle freeze-thaw better than very fine, loose material. Plan for proper subgrade preparation and extra depth where frost is a concern. Expect some seasonal movement and plan for occasional top-ups or regrading after winter.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth of the area, then convert to cubic yards using: (length x width x depth in feet) / 27. Use our online calculator to convert cubic yards to tons for the material you select, since weight varies by material and moisture. When in doubt, order a small extra allowance (5-10%) for compaction and settling.
Price depends on the material type, volume ordered, distance from the local supplier, and any requested services like next-day delivery or spreading. Labor or contractor installation adds separate costs based on local rates and project complexity. Get an itemized quote through our site to compare material and delivery components before you commit.
We serve New Concord and nearby zip codes (check your zip code at checkout for availability). The minimum order is 3 tons. Standard delivery typically requires 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets, usually tri-axle trucks.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this depends on site access, safety, and local regulations. Request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess feasibility upon arrival. We do not guarantee spreading services.
Steep slopes and poor drainage require materials that shed water and resist erosion; larger, well-graded aggregates or added sub-base and retaining features are common solutions. Consider geotextile fabric, proper grading, and drainage channels to prevent washout and pooling. If you have specific slope or drainage challenges, consult our team or a local contractor for tailored advice.
Spring and fall are often best for grading, driveways, and landscaping because ground is workable and not frozen, while summer can be good for planting and finishing. Avoid heavy earthwork on saturated or deeply frozen ground; allow for extra lead time during busy seasons and winter weather. Choose a delivery date in checkout and plan buffer days for weather-related delays.
Most surfaces need periodic topping up, raking or re-grading, and removal of weeds or debris. High-traffic areas may require more frequent maintenance and occasional compaction or fresh material. Maintenance frequency depends on material type, use, and local freeze-thaw cycles.
Loose bulk is usually more cost-effective for larger projects because trucks deliver large volumes directly to the site. Bagged products are convenient for small jobs, storage-sensitive sites, or retail-style purchasing. Consider site access, quantity needed, and storage before choosing bulk or bags.
Contact our team as soon as possible; changes are easier to accommodate before the order is processed and dispatched. We will make a best effort to update or cancel orders, but modifications may be limited once dispatch coordination begins. Check your order confirmation for contact details and time-sensitive instructions.
Materials are regionally sourced so texture and color can vary from images; natural variation is normal. If you have concerns, contact customer service promptly so we can assess the delivery and work toward a resolution. Review our refund and issue-resolution policies for next steps.
Homeowners often order smaller amounts and value guidance, calculators, and scheduled delivery, while contractors place larger, recurring orders and coordinate delivery timing to job schedules. Both can use the same online platform to get quotes, select delivery windows, and request additional services. If you are a contractor, consider setting up account preferences or speaking with our sales team for volume needs.
