Local Insights
Edon has a population of 2,350 and sits within a growing regional market that is feeding steady demand for home improvement and small-scale construction work. A 2.33% annual growth rate means more driveways, yard renovations, and room additions over time, not just one-off projects. At the same time the broader metro serves 2.6+ million residents, which supports a deeper supply chain and more contractor availability nearby. With a climate in hardiness zone 8b, about 228 sunny days per year, and roughly 33.00 inches of annual rainfall, homeowners in Edon need materials that balance drainage, durability, and sun resistance. That mix of steady population growth and a temperate-but-wet climate makes reliable bulk supplies—gravel, sand, topsoil, mulch, and base stone—important for both short-term repairs and longer-term landscape upgrades. Local soils and weather patterns shape which materials perform best. Regular rainfall paired with warm, sunny stretches increases the need for materials that shed water, resist erosion, and maintain stability under repeated wet-dry cycles. In practical terms that means paying attention to particle size, compaction, and drainage layers when planning paths, beds, or foundations. For homeowners, the result is simple: choose materials that address runoff and settle predictably so projects last. Hello Gravel helps by connecting you with local suppliers and delivery options that reflect Edon’s specific conditions, making it easier to pick the right material, quantity, and delivery timing for your project.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Coverage depends on material density and the depth you need. As a general rule, many bulk materials will cover roughly 80–100 square feet at 1 inch depth, with coverage halving at 2 inches and so on. For precise planning convert your area and depth to cubic yards and then to tons, or use our online material calculator for an estimate.
Tonnage and cost depend on the driveway size, depth, and material chosen. A typical single-car driveway about 20 ft long by 10 ft wide at 3 inches deep is roughly 2–4 tons, so many customers meet Hello Gravel's 3-ton minimum. Prices in Ohio vary by material and supplier, so expect a wide range; check our quote tool or contact our team for an exact price for your zip code.
A standard tri-axle dump truck often carries 10–14 cubic yards, which can cover thousands of square feet at a shallow 1-inch depth and progressively less at deeper depths. Exact coverage varies with the material (gravel, sand, dirt, stone) and how thickly you want it spread. If you need a specific coverage plan, tell us the area and desired depth and we can estimate truckloads for you.
Whether 1 ton fits depends on your truck's payload rating, not the vehicle name. Many standard half-ton pickups have payload limits under 2,000 pounds, so a full ton (2,000 pounds) plus additional items can exceed safe limits. Check your owner's manual for payload capacity before loading or consider delivery by a professional truck to avoid damage or safety issues.
Lower-cost choices are usually locally sourced base materials that perform well as a foundation or basic surface. Keep in mind the cheapest material may require more maintenance over time, so weigh upfront cost versus longevity and drainage needs. Use our calculator and speak with the sales team to find a balance between price and performance for your project.
Truckload costs vary with material type, truck size, and local supplier rates; in general expect a broad price range rather than a single number. Delivery fees, next-day service, and regional sourcing will affect the final quote. For an accurate estimate for Edon (43518), request a quote through our site or call our team with your project details.
Match the material to the function: choose well-draining, angular materials for drainage; durable, crush-and-lock options for driveways and paths; and finer or colored mixes for decorative beds. Consider local climate and freeze-thaw conditions in West Ohio, and remember regional sourcing means appearance and texture may vary. If unsure, request sample guidance from our team and use the aggregate quiz to narrow choices.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, with a next-day option for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Deliveries arrive by contracted dump truck fleets (usually tri-axle) and drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion but it is not guaranteed. Be sure to confirm site access, parking, and any obstacles when placing your order to help ensure a smooth delivery.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth of your area and convert those figures to cubic yards; then convert cubic yards to tons using our calculator since densities vary. Add 5–15% for compaction and waste depending on the material and project type. If you prefer, send your dimensions to our team and we will help size your order.
Contact our customer team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; it is easier to accommodate requests before the order is dispatched. Changes depend on supplier and hauler schedules and cannot always be guaranteed once processing starts. For specific refund or change rules see our order terms or reach out to customer service for help.
