Local Insights
Celina has a population of 17,610 and sits within a growing regional market—the wider metro serves roughly 2.6+ million people and is expanding at about 2.33% annually. That steady growth creates predictable demand for new yards, driveways, additions, and municipal repairs, which in turn raises the need for reliable bulk materials. With 228 sunny days per year and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall, projects here face a mix of dry, work-friendly windows and enough seasonal moisture to make drainage and erosion control important. In a climate classified as hardiness zone 8b, homeowners and contractors often balance aesthetics with performance: soils and surface layers must manage wet spells without washing out, yet also resist compaction and settling during dry stretches. All of this makes access to a range of aggregates—topsoil, sand, mulch, stone, and base materials—important for durable, low-maintenance results.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by matching the material to the job: load-bearing areas need more durable, angular aggregates while decorative beds favor finer, rounded material. Consider drainage, maintenance, and appearance, and think about local climate and soil conditions in Celina. If you are unsure, use Hello Gravel’s material quiz or contact our team for recommendations covering gravel, sand, dirt, stone and other aggregates.
Price depends on material type, quantity, delivery distance, site access, and any requested services like next-day delivery or tailgate spreading. Small orders may cost more per ton; Hello Gravel’s minimum order is 3 tons. We provide upfront pricing during checkout so you can see how each factor affects the total.
West Ohio’s freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal rainfall can cause settling, frost heave, and drainage issues if the wrong material is used or not installed properly. For areas prone to standing water or freeze problems choose well-draining, angular, well-graded materials and plan for proper subgrade and drainage. Regional sourcing means material texture and color may vary, so account for local performance when selecting materials.
Measure length, width, and desired depth to calculate cubic yards, then convert to tons using our online calculator or the estimates provided at checkout. As a rule of thumb: 1 cubic yard typically covers about 81 square feet at 1 inch depth, but coverage varies by material density and compaction. If you need help, use Hello Gravel’s material calculator or contact our support team with your project dimensions.
Standard delivery requires at least 2 business days for processing and scheduling, while next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. You can choose your preferred delivery date during checkout and will receive confirmation once a local hauler is assigned. Keep in mind lead times can change seasonally or with high demand.
Drivers may be able to perform limited tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service is not guaranteed and depends on site conditions and safety. You can request spreading at checkout; the driver will assess whether it is safe and feasible upon arrival. For precise spreading or grading, plan to hire a landscaper or contractor.
Natural materials vary by region, so color, texture, and size can differ from photos or samples. Materials in Celina reflect local geology and sourcing, and we recommend adding color or texture notes at checkout if you have preferences. If you have concerns after delivery, contact customer service to discuss options and our resolution process.
Local city rules, county regulations, and HOA covenants can affect what materials and surfacing are allowed for driveways, shorelines, or front yards. Check Celina city codes, Mercer County offices, and any HOA guidelines before ordering, especially for projects that change drainage or curb appearances. When in doubt, contact your local permitting office or HOA to confirm requirements.
Clear the delivery area of vehicles, low branches, and obstacles and mark any buried utilities so the driver can place the load safely. Ensure the access route is wide and sturdy enough for a tri-axle dump truck and provide a clear landing area for the material. For best results, prepare a compacted base and outline the exact delivery spot in advance or coordinate with your contractor.
Contractors can work directly with Hello Gravel’s sales team to arrange recurring deliveries, bulk pricing, and preferred haulers for large projects. Provide project timelines, site access details, and estimated quantities so we can coordinate reliable scheduling. Early booking is recommended during busy seasons to lock in trucks and delivery windows.
