What to know about Horace

Why Horace homeowners choose Hello Gravel

Horace is a modest but steadily growing community with a city population of 5,870 and connection to a larger regional economy (metro area population of 2.5+ million). A growth rate of 0.40% annually points to gradual, reliable demand for home improvements and small-scale construction rather than a sudden building boom. That steady growth means homeowners are more likely to tackle projects that improve property function and curb appeal—driveways, drainage improvements, garden beds, and low-maintenance landscapes. With an average of 33.50 inches of annual rainfall, 152 sunny days per year, and a hardiness zone of 8b, local projects need materials that balance drainage, erosion control, and plant health. Quality bulk supplies—gravel, sand, topsoil, mulch, and stone—help manage water on-site, support durable surfaces, and create planting environments that cope with the local climate and seasonal patterns.

They were quick to reach out to me and fixed a typo of what I was looking for soil wise for my Raised Garden bed. But shout out to Hello Gravel for being quick to reply!

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Horace delivery questions

How do material prices work in Horace, ND for bulk orders?

Prices vary by material type, quantity, and local supply. Costs for gravel, sand, dirt, and stone depend on regional availability and the ton or cubic yard rate from local suppliers; delivery and any small‑order surcharges are added separately. For an accurate number, use our material calculator or request a quote for your Horace (58047) address.

How can I estimate the amount of material I need for a project in Horace?

Measure the project area (length x width x depth) in feet and convert to cubic yards (divide cubic feet by 27). Common depths are 2–4 inches for surface layers and 3–6 inches for driveways; adjust based on expected traffic and drainage. Our online calculator can do the math for you and suggest quantities for gravel, sand, dirt, and stone.

Will one cubic yard fit in a pickup truck, or do I need a dump truck delivery in Horace?

A single cubic yard may physically fit in some truck beds, but it can be heavy and exceed safe payload limits depending on material. For orders over one cubic yard or when weight is a concern, a dump truck delivery is the safer, more practical choice. Hello Gravel requires a minimum order of 3 tons for delivery in most areas, so check availability for smaller jobs.

How many wheelbarrow loads is one cubic yard so I can plan labor for my Horace project?

One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet. A typical homeowner wheelbarrow holds about 2–3 cubic feet, so expect roughly 9–14 wheelbarrow loads per cubic yard. Use the lower number if you have a larger wheelbarrow and the higher number for a smaller one when estimating manpower and time.

What should I expect for delivery timing and minimums in Horace?

Standard delivery generally takes 2+ business days from order, with next‑day delivery available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Minimum orders and fees vary by supplier and location; Hello Gravel commonly has a 3‑ton minimum and may assess small‑order or short‑haul charges in some ZIP codes. You can choose a delivery date at checkout and we will confirm scheduling with the local hauler.

Are bulk materials cheaper than bagged materials for residential projects near Horace?

For multiple cubic yards, bulk materials are usually more cost‑effective than buying the equivalent amount in bags because you avoid packaging costs and get lower per‑unit pricing. However, bulk delivery adds hauling fees and may require a truck for unloading, so compare the full delivered cost and convenience for your specific job. We can provide estimates for both options to help you decide.

How do I estimate costs for a long driveway (example: 1,000 ft) in Horace?

Calculate volume: length x width x desired depth, convert to cubic yards, then multiply by the per‑yard price and add delivery and spreading/labor costs. For example, a 1,000 ft driveway at 10 ft wide and 3 inches deep requires about 93 cubic yards; multiply that by your chosen material's per‑yard rate and add delivery and any spreading labor. Contact our team for a tailored quote and suggestions on depth and material for West North Dakota conditions.

What delivery services and on‑site help can I expect in Horace?

Materials are delivered by contracted dump truck fleets (typically tri‑axle) sourced locally. Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; request it at checkout but note there are no guarantees. We coordinate timing, confirm delivery windows, and handle the logistics between you and the local supplier.

What factors affect per‑yard pricing for different materials around Horace and nearby Fargo area?

Price is driven by material type, local geology, quarry or pit proximity, processing (washed, screened, crushed), seasonal demand, and transportation distance. Heavier or processed materials and longer hauls increase cost, while larger orders often reduce the per‑unit price. Request a quote so we can show available options and pricing for gravel, sand, dirt, and stone in your ZIP code.

If my delivered material looks different than expected, what should I do in Horace?

Natural materials vary by color, texture, and particle size because of regional sourcing and geology. If there is a concern, contact Hello Gravel customer service promptly with photos and order details so we can review the issue and work toward a satisfactory resolution. Refer to our delivery and refund policies for specifics on next steps.
