Local Insights
Manhattan (population 5,450) sits within a growing regional market that draws on a larger metro area of 2.5+ million residents. A steady 1.90% annual growth rate translates into consistent demand for housing updates, yard remodels, and small-scale infrastructure projects—more driveways, patios, retaining walls, and planting beds that require bulk materials. With about 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, local conditions alternate between extended dry periods and meaningful seasonal moisture. That climate mix makes drainage, erosion control, and UV-resistant surface materials particularly important. Homeowners here tend to prioritize locally sourced soils, well-draining aggregates, and stable base materials that are proven to perform in the region’s hardiness zone of 8b; choosing materials that match local textures and performance expectations helps avoid surprises on color, compaction, and longevity.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Hello Gravel sells most bulk materials by the ton or by the cubic yard, with a 3-ton minimum order. Standard delivery is 2+ business days, and a next-day option is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion; request it at checkout but note it is not guaranteed.
Yes — we work with local suppliers and haulers that serve Manhattan (59741) and many nearby ZIP codes in the West Montana area. Availability can vary by product and exact ZIP, so enter your ZIP at checkout or contact our team to confirm service and material options. Regional sourcing means material texture and color may differ from photos.
Delivered price depends on the material type, quantity ordered, distance from the local supplier, local supply and seasonal demand, and any requested delivery options (like next-day or spreading). Remote deliveries or tight access sites can include extra charges. Use the online quote tool or contact our sales team for an accurate estimate.
For medium to large projects, bulk delivery is usually cheaper per unit than bagged product because you avoid bagging and handling costs. For very small projects or where storage is limited, bagged materials can be more convenient despite a higher per-unit price. Factor in delivery minimums, unloading needs, and whether you can handle spreading or need installation help.
Measure the length and width in feet and pick a depth in inches, then calculate: (length x width x depth in feet) / 27 = cubic yards. Convert cubic yards to tons using a material density range (different materials weigh different amounts); our online calculator can do this for you. Always round up to allow for compaction and waste, and consult our team if you are unsure.
As an example, a single-lane driveway 100 ft long and 10 ft wide has 1,000 sq ft. At 3 inches deep that is about 9.3 cubic yards; at 6 inches it is about 18.5 cubic yards. Convert that to tons using typical ranges for bulk materials and request a quote to see delivered pricing, remembering that actual cost varies by material type, distance, and delivery options.
Local suppliers commonly offer a range of bulk options for landscaping and construction including gravel, sand, dirt, stone, base mixes, and decorative aggregates. Choose based on the project's function: drainage and base stability require different materials than decorative or planting uses. Consider local climate, drainage needs, and finish appearance; our material quiz and sales team can help match the right group of materials to your project.
Some drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service is not guaranteed and depends on safety and equipment. For full grading, compaction, or installation work, we recommend hiring a local contractor who specializes in site prep and installation. You can request spreading in the order notes and we will pass it to the hauler to consider.
Hello Gravel has a 3-ton minimum order. Many areas include free delivery, but remote or difficult-to-access locations can incur additional fees or minimums set by the local hauler. Exact fees and minimums appear during checkout or on your quote, so check your ZIP code or contact customer service for specifics.
Natural and locally sourced materials may vary in color and texture, so the delivered product might not match photos exactly. Contact our team as soon as possible to request modifications; changes are easier before dispatch but not always possible. If there is an issue with your delivery, contact customer service and we will work to resolve it in line with our policies.
You can pay online using major credit cards, PayPal, or Apple Pay through our secure checkout. Choose your preferred delivery date in the checkout calendar; you will receive confirmation and delivery details once the order is processed.
