Local Insights
Ennis is a small but active community with a city population of 2,750 and access to a larger regional market of 2.5+ million residents. A steady growth rate of 1.90% annually indicates rising demand for homebuilding, renovations, and landscape upgrades — more driveways, patios, grading, and garden projects. The local climate and geography — roughly 228 sunny days per year, about 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, and a hardiness zone of 8b — create mixed material needs: products must manage both sun exposure and seasonal moisture, provide reliable drainage, and resist color loss or breakdown from UV. For homeowners that means selecting appropriate base materials for stable surfaces, erosion-resistant top layers, and soil blends suited to local planting conditions. Sourcing quality bulk materials like sand, dirt, mulch, and aggregates from local suppliers helps ensure compatibility with Ennis conditions and keeps projects on schedule. Moderate precipitation paired with many sunny days shapes how materials perform on site — fine soils can compact when wet and become dusty during dry stretches, while loose surfaces can wash away after heavy rain. Because local soils and rock vary, homeowners should prioritize materials matched to drainage needs, intended loads, and aesthetic goals. Hello Gravel helps by connecting you with local suppliers, offering quantity calculators and expert guidance, and coordinating scheduled deliveries so you get the right materials for Ennis conditions. Local sourcing and advice reduce surprises from regional variation and improve long-term material performance.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Yes. Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers and haulers that deliver to Ennis and nearby West Montana zip codes, but availability can vary by exact location. Enter your zip code at checkout or contact our team to confirm service to your address and any rural access considerations.
Standard delivery to Ennis is 2+ business days after ordering; next‑day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. During peak season or for remote locations, lead times may be longer, so plan ahead and check available dates in checkout.
Delivery fees depend on distance from the supplier, road accessibility, and order size rather than a fixed city rate. Remote or hard‑to‑access sites in tier 3 areas like Ennis may incur additional charges; the checkout will show any fees or you can get a quote from our team.
Calculate cubic yards needed with this formula: area (sq ft) x depth (in) / 324. Convert cubic yards to tons using a typical density range of about 1.2 to 1.6 tons per cubic yard (varies by material), and round up slightly to allow for compaction and waste.
For a 100 ft by 10 ft driveway at a 3‑inch depth the volume is about 9.3 cubic yards (1000 x 3 / 324). Using a conversion of 1.4 tons per cubic yard gives roughly 13 tons, so plan for approximately 13 tons plus a small allowance for grading and compaction.
Choose materials based on function: angular, compacting aggregates work well for base and road base; smoother, decorative mixes suit surface and landscaping uses. Because regional sourcing affects texture and color, consider local climate (freeze‑thaw in Montana) and drainage needs, and use our aggregate quiz or call our team for guidance.
Yes, we can source a variety of products — gravel, sand, dirt, stone — for construction and landscaping projects in Ennis, but exact appearance and texture vary by local geology. Photos are illustrative; add color or texture notes at checkout and contact customer service if you have specific expectations.
Our deliveries are made by contracted dump trucks and drivers may perform tailgate spreading at their discretion if it can be done safely, but there are no guarantees. For full grading, compaction, or installation services, we recommend hiring a local contractor; our team can often point you to local pros.
Estimate material cost by calculating the tons you need and checking the delivered price at checkout — remember the 3‑ton minimum. Installation and contractor labor vary widely; get multiple local quotes and factor in possible delivery surcharges, site prep, and seasonal demand when planning your budget.
Deliveries are typically made with tri‑axle dump trucks; the minimum order is 3 tons. Make sure the drop area is accessible, free of low branches or overhead lines, and that the driver has safe turning room; send photos of tight access when you order so the hauler can plan accordingly.
Contact our customer service as soon as possible — changes are easiest before the order is dispatched, and we will do our best to accommodate requests. If there is an issue after delivery, report it promptly so we can work with the supplier and hauler to resolve it according to our support and refund policies.
