Local Insights
New London (population 4,730) sits within a broader regional market that serves a metro area of 2.5+ million, and its steady growth rate of 0.40% annually points to consistent demand for home maintenance, landscaping updates, and measured construction activity rather than a fast building boom. With about 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall in hardiness zone 8b, local projects need materials that handle both sun and wet periods: stable base materials for driveways and walkways, permeable aggregates for drainage, reliable fill soils for grading, and organic products for planting beds. Homeowners and contractors in New London benefit from local sourcing of gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone because regionally appropriate materials reduce rework, improve durability, and better match the town's environmental stresses.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Costs vary by material type, local supply, and project size, but bulk orders are usually priced per ton or per cubic yard. In New London and West Minnesota, expect pricing to reflect regional sourcing for gravel, sand, dirt, stone; use our online calculator or request a quote for an accurate estimate before ordering.
Bulk materials are typically sold by the ton or by the cubic yard, with a minimum order requirement (we require 3 tons). When planning in New London, convert your project dimensions to tons or cubic yards using our calculator, and allow for slight overage to account for compaction and grading.
For small projects, bags can be convenient, but for most landscaping or construction jobs in New London, ordering bulk material is more cost-effective per unit. Buying in bulk for materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone reduces packaging costs and delivery per ton, especially once you exceed the minimum order.
Standard delivery is generally 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Deliveries are made by contracted local dump truck fleets, and you can choose a preferred delivery date at checkout; drivers may perform tailgate spreading at their discretion but this is not guaranteed.
Consider the project's function: look for materials that provide drainage for driveways, a stable base for patios, or weed suppression for garden beds. In New London’s climate and local geology, think about particle size, compaction, and appearance—consult our aggregate quiz or sales team for recommendations that fit both performance and aesthetic needs for gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
Typical estimates: 1 cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 1 inch depth; driveways and base layers often need several inches to a foot of material. Use our material calculator for precise quantities in tons or cubic yards, and round up slightly to allow for settling and grading when ordering gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
Spring and fall are the most common times to place mulch and other materials, as weather is milder and landscaping work is easier to schedule. In New London’s seasonal climate, avoid delivery during frozen ground or heavy snow when possible, and plan for a dry day if you need spreading done at delivery.
Many homeowners find free or low-cost organic materials through city compost programs, tree-trimming services, or local classifieds, but availability varies seasonally. If you need reliable quantities or a specific material quality, ordering bulk through a platform that connects to local suppliers ensures consistent delivery of gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
Contact our team as soon as possible to request order changes; modifications are easier before an order is processed or a truck is dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but final adjustments depend on supplier and truck availability, so act quickly if your plans change.
Make sure the delivery location is accessible for a tri-axle dump truck and clear any obstacles like low branches, vehicles, or overhead wires. Confirm your preferred drop spot at checkout, check property access, and plan for a spot to store the material—drivers will assess spreading requests on arrival, but may not be able to spread due to safety or equipment limits.
