Local Insights
New Century is a small but connected community (city population: 20) sitting within a larger regional economy (metro area population: 2.5+ million). Its measured growth rate (growth rate: 0.40% annually) signals steady, manageable demand rather than rapid development—meaning many homeowners will focus on renovations, landscaping upgrades, and incremental new construction rather than large-scale subdivision builds. The local climate (hardiness zone: 8b) with abundant sun (sunny days per year: 228) and moderate precipitation (annual rainfall: 34.25 inches) shapes what materials perform best: products that shed water, control erosion, hold grading through wet spells, and resist sun-driven color and texture changes. For homeowners this translates into a need for a range of reliable bulk supplies—from base materials and topsoil to sand, mulch, and decorative stone—sourced and specified to meet both everyday landscaping and light construction needs across the metro region.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start with the job: think about traffic, drainage, appearance, and budget. For driveways and paths choose materials that compact and drain well; for planting beds focus on texture and weed control. Consider that gravel, sand, dirt, stone and blends vary regionally, so use our material calculator and contact our team for recommendations tailored to New Century conditions.
Pick materials that drain well and resist freeze-thaw movement to limit rutting and frost heave. Well-draining, angular or crushed blends that compact help with stability, while looser fines are better for planting areas and beds. Because local suppliers source regionally, expect natural variation and ask our team for options suited to West Kansas weather.
Measure the length and width of the area in feet and choose a target depth in inches. Multiply length x width x depth (in feet), divide by 27 to get cubic yards, then use our online calculator to convert to tons based on the material. If you prefer, send dimensions to our team and we can help estimate quantities for New Century projects.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST with an extra fee. We deliver by contracted dump truck fleets (usually tri-axle) with a minimum order of 3 tons, and many areas qualify for free delivery. You can choose your preferred date at checkout and add delivery notes for access details.
Delivery radius varies by supplier but most cover New Century and nearby West Kansas communities; a typical radius might be a few dozen miles. Delivery cost depends on distance, load size, truck type, and site access, so pricing can vary by zip code. Enter your zip code on our site or contact sales for an accurate delivery quote.
Prices vary by material, season, and supplier; in Kansas you may commonly see a wide range depending on type and availability. Because densities and local rates differ, we recommend checking our site for current per-ton and per-cubic-yard pricing for your zip code. Request a quote to get a firm price for delivery to New Century.
Spring through fall is usually most convenient for deliveries and spreading, when ground is drier and compaction equipment works best. Avoid scheduling during heavy rain, deep freeze, or thawing conditions because delivery trucks may have limited access and materials can be harder to grade. Plan ahead for busy seasons and use our calendar to secure a date that fits your timeline.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on site safety and their equipment. You can request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess feasibility upon arrival. For more extensive spreading or grading, consider hiring a local contractor or arranging separate services.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible with order details so we can attempt to modify or cancel before dispatch. Changes are easier before the supplier and truck are assigned; once a load is in transit modifications may be limited. We will work to accommodate reasonable requests and will explain next steps specific to your order.
Yes, some HOAs and municipalities have rules about visible front-yard materials, permitted driveway surfacing, or blocking the street during delivery. Check your HOA guidelines and the City of New Century or county office for any permit or placement requirements before ordering. Also note weight limits or driveway access issues so we can coordinate the right truck and delivery plan.
Buyers commonly compare drainage performance, maintenance needs, longevity, cost, and appearance. Think about how much walking or vehicle traffic the area will get, whether you need weed control or drainage, and how much ongoing upkeep you want. Ordering samples or a small test area can help you see how regional gravel, sand, dirt, stone and blends will look on your property.
High-intent searches often include phrases like 'order [material] delivery near 66031', 'bulk [material] quote New Century KS', 'driveway [material] delivery next day', or 'calculate [material] needed for driveway'. If you see these kinds of queries, it usually means the buyer is ready to compare prices, delivery options, and scheduling. Use our zip code checker and request a quote to move from planning to ordering.
