Granite screenings are finely crushed particles produced as a byproduct during the processing of larger granite aggregates. This material consists of small, angular fragments that create a compactable, stable base. The fine texture of granite screenings allows for excellent compaction, which is ideal for creating a smooth, solid surface. This makes them particularly suitable for use as a base layer beneath pavers, flagstone patios, walkways, and driveways. Their angular shape helps lock particles together, reducing movement and settling over time. Additionally, granite screenings are often used for pathways, horse arenas, and as a leveling agent for artificial turf installations. While their fine size provides a stable foundation, it may limit drainage compared to coarser aggregates, so they are best used where water runoff is controlled.
