Screenings with the Fa-21 attribute are finely crushed stone byproducts produced during the aggregate screening process. These particles are typically smaller than traditional gravel, resulting in a compactable material with excellent binding properties. The Fa-21 designation indicates a specific gradation and fines content, making these screenings particularly effective for applications requiring a stable, smooth base.




The fine texture and gradation of Fa-21 screenings make them ideal for use as a base layer beneath pavers, patios, and walkways, where a level and well-compacted surface is essential. They are also commonly used for pipe bedding, horse arenas, and as a component in asphalt mixes. The primary advantage of this material is its ability to fill voids and lock together tightly, reducing movement and providing a solid foundation. However, due to their fine nature, screenings may retain moisture and can be less permeable than coarser aggregates, which should be considered in drainage-sensitive projects.
