Coarse Screenings

Coarse screenings are finely crushed stone byproducts produced during the screening process of larger aggregates. Unlike standard screenings, which are typically powdery, the coarse variety features a slightly larger particle size, resulting in a gritty texture. This makes them less dusty and more stable underfoot compared to finer alternatives.




The coarser texture of these screenings enhances drainage while still providing a compactable base, making them ideal for use beneath pavers, flagstone patios, and walkways. They are also commonly used as a leveling layer for driveways and as a base for retaining walls. The reduced dust content is a significant advantage for both indoor and outdoor applications, minimizing mess during installation. However, the coarser particles may not create as smooth a finish as finer screenings, so they are best suited for structural rather than decorative purposes.
