Unwashed Sand in a 3/8” Minus Size Range

Unwashed sand in a 3/8" minus size range is a versatile construction aggregate composed of natural sand particles and fine materials, including silt and clay. Unlike washed sand, this product retains its natural fines, which can enhance binding properties in certain applications.




The 3/8" minus sizing means all particles are 3/8 inch or smaller, allowing for excellent compaction and fill characteristics. The presence of fines makes unwashed sand ideal for use as a base material under pavers, in trench backfill, or for general site grading where drainage is less critical. It is also commonly used in landscaping, pipe bedding, and as a component in concrete mixes where a rougher texture is acceptable. While the fines improve compaction, they can also lead to increased dust and reduced drainage compared to washed sand, making this product less suitable for applications requiring a clean, free-draining material.
