Unwashed Sand (#200 to 1/2” Size Range)

Unwashed sand in the #200 to 1/2" size range is a naturally occurring aggregate that retains its fine particles, clay, and silt content. Unlike washed sand, this material is not processed to remove impurities, which means it contains a mix of grain sizes from very fine (#200 sieve) up to 1/2 inch. The unwashed attribute results in a coarser texture and a higher level of dust and organic material.




This specific size and unwashed combination is ideal for applications where compaction and binding are important, such as backfilling, pipe bedding, and general fill. The presence of fines helps the sand compact well, making it suitable for sub-base layers in landscaping or construction projects.
