Sand Products Sand Blend

Sand blend is a washed, coarse sand screened to about 3/16 inch and down to the fines. The grains are sharp and angular, so they lock together under weight instead of drifting sideways when a load rolls over the top. It's the layer that goes under pavers, flagstone, and stepping stones to give you a flat, drainable bed.

The word "blend" just means the sand spans a range of grain sizes rather than one clean cut. That range is what lets it compact tight while still passing water. You'll see the same product sold as paver sand, bedding sand, or leveling sand depending on the yard. It runs a little more per ton than plain fill sand because it's washed and screened.
