Hello Gravel found me while I was looking for dirt to fill a hole that opened up in my back yard. I originally searched on DirtMatch and when I spoke with Chuck I was originally quoted for 1 ton of dirt. After showing pictures it turned out I needed less than half of that. Chuck talked me through the process of picking the right soil, how to fill the hole, and where to get what I needed from the Lowes local to me. Uploaded pictures of how we found it, after we dug out all the overhang and cleaned it out, and after we filled it in. I saved $400 by talking with Chuck and it only took like 3 hours. I wasn't even an official customer and Chuck took the time to help me with the hole in my yard. And on a weekend no less!!! Good evening Nina, just to respond to your inquiry about my experience with your company is to say that i was led to believe that I was dealing with a local company. I was wrong. I spent a large amount of money to a national company to deliver top soil that was delivered by a different local company. I purchased topsoil from that company a few years ago and paid a small price then, based on your charges to me. I have no plans on purchasing any additional material from your company. Despite the fact that the delivered material was fine, I have no plans to purchase from your company again.

Compost is 100% compost, a concentrated amendment you mix into soil you already have. Compost Soil is a blend of topsoil and compost that's ready to plant in. Pick Compost to improve existing beds and lawns. Pick Compost Soil to fill new beds.
It's not a good idea. Straight compost is too rich and too loose for most plants on its own, and it settles a lot as it breaks down. Mix it with your existing soil, or order Compost Soil if you need a ready-made planting mix.
Yes. Rake a 1/4 to 1/2 inch layer over the grass, ideally after aerating, so it settles down around the roots. It's a common way to build up thin or compacted lawns.
Finished compost has an earthy smell, like a forest floor. A strong sour or ammonia smell means compost isn't finished. The smell fades within a day or two of spreading.
