Local Insights
Hewitt has a population of 810 and is connected to a regional market that supports continued development — the surrounding metro area exceeds 2.5+ million residents. A steady growth rate of 1.20% annually usually signals consistent demand for both small-scale homeowner projects and gradual new construction: homeowners are investing in improved driveways, patios, grading, and stormwater solutions while contractors handle incremental infrastructure and residential builds. In Hewitt's climate — hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall — materials need to balance durability and drainage. That combination of sun and moderate precipitation favors UV-resistant surface materials, well-graded base and drainage aggregates, resilient topsoils and mulches, and fill materials that compact reliably. As local yards shift toward low-maintenance landscaping and functional outdoor spaces, access to quality bulk supplies becomes essential to ensure long-term performance and reduce rework.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

For most driveways and landscaping jobs in Hewitt, a combination of crushed aggregates works well—think gravel, sand, dirt, and stone as a group. Choose based on function: well-draining mixes for driveways, finer material for leveling or bedding, and firmer, angular stone for load-bearing surfaces. Local climate and intended use will influence the best mix, so consult our material guide or team for a recommendation that matches your project and site conditions.
Freeze-thaw cycles can cause settling, heaving, and drainage issues, so pick materials and construction methods that improve drainage and resist movement. Use free-draining base layers and properly compacted aggregates to minimize frost action, and avoid fine, clay-rich fills where water can be trapped. Our team can help you choose a material combination that balances drainage, durability, and seasonal performance for Hewitt's climate.
Standard delivery is generally available in 2 or more business days, with a next-day option if you order before noon CST (additional fee may apply). Lead times can be longer during peak seasons, heavy storms, or for large orders, so plan ahead for landscaping or construction projects. We recommend checking your zip code and scheduling your preferred delivery date during checkout to lock in timing.
Yes, local suppliers and contracted haulers commonly deliver to both residential and rural addresses in the Hewitt area, but access constraints can affect where and how material is dumped. Provide clear driveway, gate, and site access details at checkout, and note any hazards or narrow roads to help drivers plan. If your property has limited access or special placement needs, contact our team before delivery to discuss options and any additional fees.
Start by measuring the area in feet and the desired depth in inches, then use our material calculator to convert that volume into cubic yards or tons. As a rule of thumb, one cubic yard of most aggregates typically weighs about 1.2 to 1.6 tons, but exact values vary by material and moisture content—our calculator factors that in. Order a little extra for compaction and grading, and contact our sales team for help with specific project estimates.
Most homeowners schedule deliveries and installs in late spring through early fall when ground conditions are workable and frozen ground is less likely to interfere. Early spring deliveries may be affected by thawing and muddy conditions, while late fall can risk frost-related issues. Plan delivery and installation around good weather windows and reserve trucks earlier in peak season to avoid delays.
Consider the project purpose first—drainage, bearing capacity, appearance, or planting medium—and then select a material blend that meets those needs from the local options. Because Hello Gravel sources regionally, texture and color can vary; review product descriptions, request photos, and ask about typical uses before ordering. If you are unsure, use our aggregate quiz or speak with our team for a recommendation that balances performance and budget.
Drivers may perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but it is not guaranteed and depends on safety, equipment, and site access. You can request spreading at checkout and include placement notes, but be prepared to level and compact materials after delivery or hire a local contractor for spreading. We recommend marking placement areas clearly to help the driver if spreading is possible.
