Local Insights
With a city population of 7,280 and a metro area population of 2.5+ million, Campbellsport is in a region experiencing steady growth (annual growth rate of 1.20%). That steady expansion means more new builds, driveways, garden renovations, and hardscape projects—not a sudden boom but consistent, reliable demand for bulk materials. Campbellsport’s climate (annual rainfall of 34.25 inches, 228 sunny days per year, hardiness zone 8b) favors predictable construction windows, but it also creates specific material priorities: reliable base aggregates and drainage products for wet periods, stable fill and compactable soils for foundations and driveways, and quality topsoils and mulches for planting seasons. Homeowners should expect locally sourced materials to reflect regional geology, so choosing the right texture, gradation, and drainage properties is critical to long-term performance across a range of projects.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by matching material performance to your needs: consider load-bearing, drainage, appearance, and maintenance. Materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, and stone each handle water, compaction, and traffic differently, so pick one based on whether you need drainage, a smooth surface, or a decorative finish. If you are unsure, use our material quiz or contact our team for guidance on what works best in Campbellsport’s climate and local soil conditions.
Freeze-thaw and seasonal snow can cause settling, heaving, and drainage problems if the wrong material is used. Choose mixes that drain well and compact properly, and design proper slopes and base layers to reduce water pooling. Plan for occasional maintenance after winter, since natural materials can shift with repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Measure the area (length x width) and the desired depth, then convert to cubic yards using the formula: cubic yards = (length ft x width ft x depth in) / 324. Different materials have different weights, so convert cubic yards to tons using our online calculator or contact our team for help. Keep in mind our minimum order is 3 tons, so round up or combine small jobs when possible.
Standard delivery is typically available in 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is an option for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. You can choose your preferred delivery date at checkout, and we’ll confirm scheduling with a local supplier and hauler. Availability can vary by zip code, so check your primary zip code when ordering.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service is not guaranteed. Request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess safety and site access upon arrival. If spreading is essential, plan to hire a local contractor or be prepared to do final grading yourself.
Costs vary by material type, quantity, local supplier rates, and season, so prices can change over time. For the most accurate estimate, get a quote through our site by entering your zip code and project details, or contact our sales team for a per-ton or per-cubic-yard estimate. Ordering larger quantities often lowers the per-ton price, and planning ahead can help avoid rush fees.
Local rules vary, and some driveway rebuilds or curb cuts may require a permit or coordination with the village or county highway department. Check with Campbellsport village hall or your local zoning office before starting work, and review any HOA rules if applicable. Also confirm street access and parking plans if a large truck will need to stop in a neighborhood or on a narrow road.
Choose DIY for small, simple projects if you have the tools and time; hire a contractor for large driveways, major grading, drainage work, or when permits are required. Contractors bring equipment and experience with compaction, base layers, and proper slopes—important in areas with freeze-thaw cycles. If you are unsure, request a quote from a local contractor and compare costs to doing it yourself.
Avoid delivering fine or loose materials during heavy rain, deep snow, or frozen ground when possible, since access and spreading can be difficult. Spring thaw and heavy rains can also make sites muddy and limit truck access, so schedule deliveries for drier windows or plan for additional site preparation. If you need material right away, consider next-day delivery but be aware weather can still delay service.
