Local Insights
Justin is a steadily growing community with a city population of 27,540, and its modest expansion (0.70% annually) points to steady, ongoing demand for home building, yard upgrades, and small commercial projects. That steady growth—rather than a boom—means homeowners and local contractors typically plan incremental improvements: driveway repairs, patio installations, drainage fixes, and landscape refreshes. Local climate and geography shape those needs: with 228 sunny days per year and 34.80 inches of annual rainfall in hardiness zone 8b, materials must stand up to strong sun, occasional heavy rains, and seasonal temperature swings. That mix drives demand for reliable base materials, erosion-control products, mulch and soil blends that retain moisture, and aggregates that promote drainage. Homeowners in this market value materials that perform over time, reduce maintenance, and suit the local soil and plant choices supported by the larger metro area's 2.5+ million residents who influence regional supply and design trends.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by matching performance needs to appearance: consider load-bearing, drainage, and how much maintenance you want. For most projects, comparing options like gravel, sand, dirt, stone together helps you weigh stability, compaction, and look. If you’re unsure, use our material calculator or contact our team for project-specific guidance.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth of the area and use our online calculator to convert cubic yards to tons. Typical depths are 2-4 inches for a top layer and 4-8 inches for a base, but your project may vary so round up to account for compaction and waste. Keep in mind our minimum order is 3 tons, so plan quantities accordingly.
Justin’s climate can increase dust, cause some materials to dry and loosen, and produce freeze-thaw movement in colder snaps, so choose materials that handle thermal shifts and local drainage. Regional sourcing means gravel, sand, dirt, stone may look or behave differently here than in other areas. Ask our team about climate-appropriate mixes and installation tips for West Texas conditions.
Yes, we deliver to most addresses, but drivers need clear access for dump trucks, so provide gate codes, exact directions, and any access constraints at checkout. Tailgate spreading may be possible but is at the driver’s discretion based on safety and site conditions. If access is very restricted, we can discuss alternative drop-off points or smaller truck options where available.
Standard delivery requires 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. You can choose your preferred delivery date during checkout, and we will confirm timing with the contracted hauler. We provide estimated windows but cannot guarantee exact arrival times.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; request this service at checkout so the driver is aware. Spreading depends on site safety, truck type, and material; we do not guarantee spreading or precise finish work. For consistent results, consider hiring a local installer for grading and compaction.
Delivery cost depends on the material type, quantity ordered, and distance from local suppliers to your delivery address. Hello Gravel shows transparent pricing up front and often offers free delivery in many areas, but large distances or expedited next-day service may add fees. Get an exact quote by entering your zip code or contacting our sales team.
Many small landscaping projects need only basic site prep like clearing vegetation, marking utilities, and rough grading, while larger work such as new driveways can require city or county permits. Check with Justin city offices or your HOA before ordering and prepare the site so trucks can safely unload. Proper prep speeds installation and reduces the chance of additional fees or delays.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible; changes are easiest before the order is dispatched and we will do our best to accommodate requests. If you have a quality or delivery issue, notify us promptly so we can work with the supplier and hauler to resolve it in line with our policies. Keep order details and photos handy to help speed up the process.
Most installations need periodic upkeep such as raking, topping up settled areas, and addressing weeds or erosion after heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles. Materials naturally shift over time, so plan occasional replenishment and simple upkeep to maintain appearance and performance. Ask our team for material-specific maintenance tips for Justin’s climate.
Yes, contractors and commercial customers can request larger quantities, recurring deliveries, and account-level support for project scheduling. Minimum orders still start at 3 tons on the platform, and bulk pricing or special terms may be available—contact our sales team to discuss commercial needs. We can also coordinate delivery windows to fit jobsite schedules.
Spring and fall are often ideal for outdoor work in Justin because temperatures are milder and the ground is easier to work with, while extreme summer heat can affect compaction and winter freezes can cause movement. Check local weather and avoid scheduling during heavy rain or freeze warnings if possible. If you need materials quickly, next-day delivery is available for qualifying orders placed before noon CST.
