Local Insights
Alice is a city of 24,736, and its modest annual growth rate of 0.70% suggests steady, ongoing demand for residential and light commercial projects rather than a rapid building boom. That steady expansion, combined with a metro area population of 2.5+ million, means homeowners and local contractors are regularly updating yards, driveways, and small site improvements. In Alice's climate—hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and annual rainfall of 34.80 inches—material choices must balance sun exposure, moisture management, and long-term durability. Homeowners here increasingly favor low-maintenance landscaping, improved drainage measures, and resilient hardscaping; that drives need for a range of bulk supplies, from structural base materials to mulches and topdressings that help retain moisture and resist washout. Local weather patterns and soils make performance and placement critical. High sun exposure and periodic heavy rains put stress on colors, organic materials, and unpaved surfaces, while seasonal wetting and drying cycles affect compaction and settling. For homeowners, that means selecting materials that tolerate UV, manage runoff, and provide stable footing after rain. Hello Gravel helps by connecting customers to locally sourced options, offering guidance on quantities and delivery timing, and coordinating professional dump-truck delivery so you get the right materials for Alice’s specific conditions without the guesswork.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Just a little hiccup in the delivery date but everything worked out well and with great communication from Janel. Ordering went smoothly as well as working with the delivery team to deliver to the appropriate location for my yard.

Start with the project and site conditions: do you need drainage, compaction, a decorative surface, or erosion control? Consider local climate factors in West Texas and pick a material group (gravel, sand, dirt, stone) that matches those needs. Use Hello Gravel’s material quiz and calculator or contact our sales team for guidance based on your project type and desired look.
Prioritize drainage, compaction/stability, and erosion resistance because hot, occasionally heavy-rain conditions affect performance. Color and heat absorption may matter for patios and pathways, while finer particles can wash away more easily on slopes. Talk to a local supplier through Hello Gravel to match properties to your site’s exposure and soil.
Common projects include driveways and parking pads, patios and pathways, drainage swales and French drains, erosion control and slope stabilization, and soil top-up or landscaping beds. Both DIY homeowners and contractors order materials for small garden projects up to multi-ton driveway installs. For most projects you can get a realistic material estimate using our online calculator.
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area you will fill and use the material calculator to convert to tons or cubic yards. Order extra to allow for compaction, grading, and waste—typically plan on about 10% to 15% more material for most jobs. If you’re unsure, request help from Hello Gravel with your project dimensions or photos.
Standard delivery is typically available in 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is an option for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Minimum orders start at 3 tons and deliveries are made by local dump truck fleets (commonly tri-axle). You can choose a delivery date during checkout and see upfront pricing.
Clear the delivery area of cars, low-hanging branches, lawn furniture, and other obstacles so the truck has safe access to the drop zone. Provide clear directions and mark the preferred dump location in Order Notes; if the truck cannot reach the spot, material may be dumped at the safest accessible point. Consider driveway weight limits and whether a public street permit is needed for large trucks.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; you can request this service at checkout. Spreading is not guaranteed and will depend on safety, site access, and driver assessment at arrival. If you need professional spreading, consider arranging a separate landscape or site-prep crew.
Because Hello Gravel sources materials regionally, texture and color can vary from photos; this is normal for natural aggregates. Contact our customer service team as soon as possible to request changes—modifications are easier before an order is processed or dispatched but not guaranteed afterward. If you have an issue with your delivery, reach out promptly so we can work toward a satisfactory resolution in line with our policies.
Yes. Local building codes, city ordinances, and HOA rules can influence acceptable surfacing, colors, and drainage requirements for driveways and front yards. Check with the City of Alice and your HOA before finalizing material selection or installation plans, especially for curb cuts, street access, or visible front-yard surfaces. Hello Gravel can help supply materials but cannot waive permit or HOA requirements.
Price depends on the material group, quantity, delivery distance, and local availability in West Texas.
