Local Insights
Soper is a small, community-minded town with a city population of 870 that sits within a larger metro area of 2.3+ million residents. A measured growth rate of 0.40% annually points to steady, incremental development rather than rapid expansion—so demand for construction and landscaping materials tends to be regular and project-driven (driveways, yard upgrades, and small additions) rather than boom-driven. With hardiness zone 8b, 228 sunny days annually, and 33.50 inches of annual rainfall, Soper’s climate combines substantial sun exposure with moderate precipitation. That mix increases the need for materials that balance drainage and UV resilience: soils and base materials that compact well for driveways, permeable aggregates for stormwater management, and mulches or topsoils that support drought-tolerant plantings. Homeowners and contractors here benefit from regionally sourced bulk supplies that reflect local geology and perform reliably in the specific seasonal patterns of the area.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Pick materials based on the project goal: drainage, walking surfaces, plant beds, or base for paving. Think about texture, how much compaction you need, and the finished look, then match those needs to options like gravel, sand, dirt, or stone. If you are unsure, use our material quiz or contact our team for a recommendation that fits local soil and climate.
Common choices include gravel, sand, dirt, stone, mulch, screened topsoil, decomposed granite, and recycled aggregates. Each type has different uses—some are better for drainage, others for planting beds or driveways—so pick based on function rather than just appearance. Regional suppliers may offer variations, so check product descriptions or ask for local samples.
Delivery cost depends on material type, quantity, and distance from local suppliers, and final pricing is shown at checkout. Standard delivery is 2+ business days, with next-day delivery available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee; minimum order is 3 tons. We provide scheduled delivery dates and transparent fees, but exact timing depends on supplier and carrier availability.
Most deliveries use tri-axle dump trucks, which commonly carry about 10 to 12 tons per load, though capacities vary by truck and material. Hello Gravel’s minimum order is 3 tons, so smaller jobs may require multiple suppliers or different truck types. If you need a specific truck size or single-truck delivery, note that in order notes and we will try to accommodate.
Coverage varies by material and desired depth, but a rough rule is that 1 ton of loose aggregate covers about 80 to 100 square feet at a 1-inch depth. Heavier materials like topsoil cover less area, and deeper applications reduce coverage proportionally (for example, 3 inches uses about three times the material of 1 inch). Use our calculator for a more accurate estimate based on the material and depth you choose.
Measure the length and width of the area and decide on the depth you want in inches, then convert to cubic yards and to tons using the material density. If you prefer an easier option, use Hello Gravel’s material calculator or call our team with your dimensions and project type for help. We recommend ordering a small extra amount to account for settling and compaction.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but it is not guaranteed and depends on safety, site access, and truck type. You can request spreading in the checkout notes and the driver will assess whether spreading is possible on arrival. For guaranteed spreading, arrange for professional spreading services separately.
The most affordable options are usually materials that are locally abundant, such as crushed local stone, screenings, or recycled concrete, but availability varies by region. Cheaper options can work well for pathways or base layers, but consider long-term performance and maintenance before choosing solely on price. Ask our team to compare local options and recommend the best value for your project.
Pricing per ton varies by material type, supply availability, and delivery distance, so exact costs are shown when you enter your zip code and material on our site. Hello Gravel provides transparent pricing and an online quote; if you need a quick estimate, contact our sales team with the material and quantity you need. Keep in mind that factors like seasonal demand and special delivery requests can affect the final price.
Natural materials vary by local geology and may not match photos exactly; if appearance is critical, add color or texture preferences in the order notes or ask for a local sample before delivery. To change or cancel an order, contact our team as soon as possible—changes are easier before the order is processed or dispatched but cannot be guaranteed. For quality concerns or issues after delivery, contact customer service and we will work to resolve them according to our policies.
