Local Insights
Randlett's city population is 520, set inside a broader metro area population of 2.3+ million that is growing at a steady 0.40% annually. That modest growth usually means steady, incremental demand for home improvement, property maintenance, and small-scale construction rather than a building boom — homeowners are more often repairing driveways, improving drainage, and upgrading outdoor living spaces than starting large subdivisions. Local climate and geography (hardiness zone 8b with 228/year sunny days and 33.50 inches of annual rainfall) favor materials that handle strong sun exposure and episodic rain: UV-resistant surfacing, well-draining base layers, erosion-control soils, and mulches that retain moisture. For homeowners in Randlett, reliable bulk supplies — gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone — are essential for durable patios, stable driveways, drainage swales, and garden beds that match both aesthetic goals and the local environment.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

For most residential projects in Randlett, homeowners and contractors choose from a mix of gravel, sand, dirt, stone depending on function: durable, angular aggregates for driveways and base layers; finer materials for leveling and bedding; and top dressings for paths or decorative beds. Pick materials based on load, drainage needs, and appearance — for example use denser, well-graded materials where vehicles will travel and looser, finer materials for planting areas. Consider local availability and regional texture or color variations when ordering.
West Oklahoma’s hot summers, occasional freezes, and episodic rain mean you should prioritize materials that drain well and hold shape through temperature swings. Good base materials and proper compaction help resist washouts after storms and reduce shifting during freeze-thaw cycles. Expect to top up or regrade exposed surfaces periodically, especially after heavy rains or seasonal freeze-thaw.
Spring and fall are generally the easiest times for delivery and installation since ground conditions are milder and there is less risk of extreme heat or frozen ground. Avoid scheduling big installs during heavy summer heat or after prolonged wet periods when access and compaction can be more difficult. Hello Gravel offers standard delivery in 2+ business days and next-day delivery for orders placed before noon CST when available, so plan ahead for large jobs.
A quick rule of thumb: 1 cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches depth. Material weight varies, but many aggregates weigh roughly 1 to 1.35 tons per cubic yard — use an online calculator or Hello Gravel’s material calculator for a more precise estimate. When in doubt, order a little extra to allow for compaction and grading, keeping the minimum order of 3 tons in mind.
Delivery policies vary by supplier, but Hello Gravel’s platform commonly requires a 3 ton minimum and offers standard delivery in 2+ business days, with next-day delivery available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Rural deliveries can incur extra charges based on distance, truck staging complexity, and access issues; some areas qualify for free delivery. Always confirm delivery details, fees, and the expected truck type before placing an order.
Prepare the site by removing organic topsoil, confirming final grades, and establishing a slight slope for runoff away from structures. Use layered placement and compaction for base materials to create a stable foundation, and add a permeable layer or fabric where needed to reduce mixing with native soil. Include edge restraints and simple drainage features like shallow swales or culverts to manage runoff in heavy rains.
Local requirements can vary, so check with your Randlett town office or Greer County (or the county that applies) for driveway permits, right-of-way, and culvert rules before starting work. Some projects near roads or flood-prone areas may require additional permits or setback adherence. Also verify any HOA or neighborhood rules that could affect material type or placement.
Maintenance frequency depends on material selection, use, and drainage; light-traffic paths may need topping every few years while driveways used by vehicles often need attention every 3 to 7 years. Regular maintenance includes regrading low spots, adding material where it has washed away, and removing weeds. Proper initial installation and drainage reduce long-term upkeep.
Because Hello Gravel sources materials regionally, texture, color, and particle shape will reflect local geology, so samples or photos should be used as a guide rather than an exact match. Regional variations are normal and do not indicate poor quality; if color or texture is critical, request samples or add appearance notes at checkout. Expect practical differences but consistent functional performance for similar material types.
Ask about delivery timing, truck size and access requirements, and whether drivers can perform tailgate spreading at arrival (not guaranteed). Confirm minimum order size, return or cancellation policies, sample availability, and who is responsible for site damage or cleanup. Also verify material gradation, expected coverage per ton or yard, and any extra fees for remote or difficult-to-access locations.
Hello Gravel can support a wide range of residential and small commercial projects in Randlett including driveways, walking paths, patios, garden beds, erosion control, backfill, and basic drainage projects. Typical orders for homeowners start at the 3 ton minimum and scale up for larger landscaping or contractor needs; contractors can place larger, scheduled deliveries. The platform connects you with local suppliers and truck fleets to handle both small DIY jobs and larger installs.
Clear a staging area and note any tight turns, overhead wires, low branches, or soft ground that might prevent a dump truck from getting close to the drop point. Add detailed delivery notes at checkout and contact Hello Gravel’s team if access looks challenging so they can coordinate the right truck size and driver instructions. Remember tailgate spreading is at the driver’s discretion, so plan for manual spreading if precise placement is required.
