Local Insights
Minco’s city population: 2,460 gives a clear picture of a small, steady community where growth is gradual rather than explosive. With a growth rate of 0.40% annually, construction demand is likely measured—homeowners and local contractors tend to prioritize incremental projects, repairs, and targeted upgrades over large-scale development. Minco sits in hardiness zone 8b and sees 228/year sunny days alongside 33.50 inches of annual rainfall; that combination means materials must handle both prolonged sun exposure and periodic heavy rains. For residents, that translates into a need for quality bulk materials—gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone—that support reliable drainage, erosion control, and low-maintenance surfaces. Regionally sourced aggregates reflect local geology, so choosing the right gradation and composition matters: durable surfaces resist washout during storms, while topsoil and mulch retain moisture during sunny stretches. In this environment, dependable supply and accurate quantities are essential to avoid delays and extra handling.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by measuring the area (length x width) and decide the depth you need in inches. Use an online material calculator or our checkout calculator to convert cubic feet to cubic yards or tons — regional materials weigh differently, so results vary by material. For small jobs a few bags may suffice; larger landscaping or driveway jobs usually require bulk orders (minimum 3 tons).
A standard 40 lb bag of mulch or topsoil is often about 2 cubic feet, so you need roughly 13 to 14 bags to equal one cubic yard. Bag sizes and densities vary by product, so check the bag label or use our calculator for a precise estimate. Buying bulk is usually simpler when you need more than a few cubic yards.
For small, one-off projects bagged materials can be convenient despite a higher per-unit cost, while bulk delivery is almost always cheaper per cubic yard for moderate to large projects. Consider the size of the job, storage space, and labor: bulk saves money but requires a place for the truck to dump and possibly spreading. Check local availability and any delivery fees for your zip code before deciding.
Most residential dump trucks on our network are tri-axle and carry about 10 to 12 cubic yards per load, but exact capacity depends on the truck. Weight per cubic yard varies by material — lighter materials may be around 1 ton per cubic yard and heavier ones more — so the tonnage for a truckload can vary widely. Use our material calculator or contact our team with the material type to get an accurate yard-to-ton conversion for your order.
Price depends on the material type, quantity ordered, distance from the supplier, local availability, and whether you choose standard or expedited delivery. Seasonal demand and special services like requested tailgate spreading can add fees. For an immediate estimate, use our online quote tool or contact our sales team with your zip code and project details.
The 3-3-3 rule for mulch is a guideline: lay 3 inches of mulch, leave 3 inches of space around plant stems, and replace mulch every 3 years or as it decomposes. While that specific rule applies to mulch and planting beds, the general idea — appropriate depth, clearance around plants or structures, and periodic replenishment — applies to other landscape materials like soil amendments or topdressing. Always tailor depth and maintenance to the material and local climate in Minco.
Pick materials based on the function: stability and compaction for driveways, a firm clean base for patios, and free-draining material where water needs to move away. Think about particle size, angularity, and local climate: materials sourced near Minco will reflect local geology and perform differently than materials from other regions. If you are unsure, use our aggregate quiz or contact our team with project dimensions and expected use so we can recommend suitable options.
Standard delivery is available in 2 or more business days after ordering; next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. We work with local haulers and usually deliver with tri-axle dump trucks; minimum order is 3 tons and access and overhead clearance at the delivery site can affect whether dumping or tailgate spreading is possible. Enter your zip code at checkout to see availability and choose a delivery date.
Contact our customer service as soon as possible — the earlier you call, the more likely we can accommodate changes before the order is processed or dispatched. Changes depend on supplier and truck scheduling and are handled on a best-effort basis; we will explain any potential fees or limits. If an issue arises at delivery, notify us promptly so we can work toward a satisfactory resolution and guide you on next steps.
