Local Insights
Haworth is a small but steady community with a city population of 1,580 and ties to a larger regional market of 2.3+ million. A growth rate of 0.40% annually points to modest, predictable expansion rather than boom-style development—that means steady demand for home upgrades, incremental landscaping, and targeted infrastructure repairs rather than rapid large-scale building. The local climate—hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 33.50 inches of annual rainfall—creates a mix of needs: materials must stand up to strong sun and UV exposure while also handling periodic rain and runoff. For homeowners that translates into choosing durable aggregates, well-graded soils for planting beds, and materials that support effective drainage and erosion control across driveways, patios, and garden areas.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start with the project function: load-bearing projects need more compactable, angular material while decorative areas prioritize color and texture. Consider drainage, maintenance, and budget when comparing options like gravel, sand, dirt, stone as a group. If you are unsure, use our material calculator or contact our sales team for a recommendation based on your project size and goals.
Haworth experiences hot summers and periodic heavy rains, so drainage and erosion resistance are important when picking materials. Local soils can affect compaction and settling, so choosing materials that work with your site's drainage and ground conditions helps long-term performance. Regional sourcing means texture and color may vary, so plan for local variation in appearance and behavior.
Common projects include driveways, walkways, patios, raised beds, erosion control, and base layers for pavers or sheds. Different materials serve different roles: some act as structural base, others as surface finish or fill. Think about function first, then choose a material that meets load, drainage, and aesthetic needs.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth of the area to calculate cubic yards, then convert to tons using our online calculator or the material calculator on our site. Keep in mind material type affects the conversion and order minimums apply (minimum order is 3 tons). If you need help, contact our team with your measurements and we can verify the estimate.
Standard delivery typically requires 2 or more business days, and next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. You choose a preferred date during checkout and we connect you with a local supplier and contracted hauler. Delivery timing is confirmed after order processing but exact arrival windows are not guaranteed.
The minimum order is 3 tons, and materials are delivered by contracted dump trucks, typically tri-axle trucks. Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion—request it at checkout, but there are no guarantees. Regional suppliers source materials locally, so color and texture will reflect local geology.
Schedule material delivery when the ground is dry enough to support trucks and installation—late spring through early fall is often best but avoid peak heat or heavy rain periods if possible. Order ahead of your installation date to allow for processing and possible weather delays. For urgent needs, ask about next-day delivery availability before noon CST.
Costs depend on material type, quantity, distance from local suppliers, truck accessibility, and any extra services like spreading. Buying larger quantities can lower per-ton cost, while remote delivery locations or difficult access can increase hauling fees. Because Hello Gravel uses regional sourcing, texture, color, and gradation can vary by supplier and local geology. Natural materials also vary from batch to batch, so photos are representative rather than exact matches. If appearance is important, add notes at checkout and contact our team to discuss options before ordering.
Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; we will do our best to accommodate requests before the order is processed or dispatched. Changes are easier before trucks are dispatched, but not all modifications are possible once processing begins. See our order terms or contact customer service for specific guidance.
Decide whether performance (compaction, drainage, load-bearing) or appearance is most important for your project. For structural needs pick materials designed to compact and shed water; for decorative uses choose materials with the desired color and texture. Our sales team can help match a material to both your functional and aesthetic priorities.
Clear the delivery area of obstacles, mark desired dump location, and note overhead wires, gates, or low-drive clearances to ensure safe truck access. Make sure the ground can support a heavy truck; soft or muddy areas may need temporary reinforcement. Provide these details at checkout or in Order Notes so the hauler can plan accordingly.
