Local Insights
Clarita is a small but active community with a city population of 125, situated within a larger West Oklahoma metro area of 2.3+ million residents. A measured growth rate of 0.40% annually signals steady, incremental development rather than rapid boom—meaning most construction demand will come from homeowner projects, infill builds, and small-scale contracting work. With 228 sunny days per year, annual rainfall of 33.50 inches, and a hardiness zone of 8b, Clarita’s climate creates specific needs: materials must resist prolonged UV exposure, shed water during heavy rains, and support drought-tolerant planting where appropriate. For homeowners that translates into careful choices across gravel, dirt, sand, mulch, and stone—each affecting drainage, erosion control, and long-term maintenance costs. Locally sourced, high-quality bulk materials help projects hold up to Clarita’s weather while matching the regional geology and aesthetic.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Delivery cost depends on material type, order size, and distance from the supplier. Hello Gravel often shows transparent pricing during checkout and may offer free delivery in many areas, but Clarita (zip 74535) quotes vary by route and supplier. Use the online quote tool or contact our team for an exact price for gravel, sand, dirt, or stone.
You can order a range of aggregates including gravel, sand, dirt, stone, mulch, and crushed material sizes used for landscaping and construction. Each type has common uses—base material, top dressing, drainage, or decorative mulch—so choose based on function and appearance. If you are unsure, use our material quiz or call our experts for personalized recommendations.
Most local tri-axle dump trucks carry roughly 10 to 12 cubic yards, which translates differently into tons depending on material density. Because gravel, sand, and dirt have different weights, a truckload may be about 12 to 14 tons for some materials and less for lighter products. Check the product details in checkout or ask our team for the typical yards and tons for the material you want.
Measure the area in square feet and decide on the depth you need (in inches), then convert to cubic yards: area x depth (ft) / 27. For example, 1 cubic yard covers about 81 sq ft at 4 inches depth. Use our online material calculator for automatic conversions and round up to allow for compaction and grading.
Coverage per ton varies by material type and depth, so ranges are broad: a ton can cover anywhere from about 20 to 100 square feet depending on whether you are laying a 1-inch top dressing or a 4- to 6-inch base. Because density differs, use our calculator or ask for a coverage estimate for the specific material and depth you need. We recommend ordering a little extra to account for settling and grading.
For most landscaping uses, 2 to 3 inches of mulch provides weed suppression and moisture retention without suffocating plants. Keep mulch pulled a few inches away from tree and shrub trunks to prevent rot and pest problems, and refresh the layer every 1 to 3 years as it breaks down. If you need help choosing mulch type or amount, our team can help estimate quantities.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; you can request this service at checkout, but it is not guaranteed and depends on site access and safety. Standard delivery is by contracted dump truck fleets that will unload material where safe and legal on your property. If you need precise spreading or fine grading, plan to hire a local landscaper or request professional spreading as a separate service.
Materials reflect regional sourcing, so texture, color, and price reflect the local geology and nearby supplier inventory. Transportation distance, seasonal demand, material grade, and local supplier capacity all affect price and availability in small towns like Clarita. We recommend checking zip code 74535 in our checkout to see currently available products and exact pricing.
Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; modifications are easier before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but changes cannot always be made once a truck is scheduled. See your order confirmation for contact details and time-sensitive instructions.
Match the material function to the project: choose durable, angular aggregates for driveways and base layers, looser fines for top dressing, and well-draining mixes for drainage areas. Consider depth, compaction needs, appearance, and maintenance for each area, and factor in local climate and freeze-thaw cycles. If you need help, use our material quiz, calculator, or contact our experts for tailored guidance.
