Local Insights
Union Town is a community of about 3,000 residents that sits within a rapidly expanding metro region of 2.6+ million people. A 2.33% annually growth rate means steady, sustained demand for home improvements, additions, and small-scale construction projects rather than a sudden building boom. That steady growth translates to more driveways, patios, rain-management upgrades, and backyard remodeling, all of which increase demand for reliable bulk supplies. With 228 sunny days per year and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall, homeowners need materials that handle both strong sun and periodic wet spells; that affects choices for surface aggregates, base materials, topsoil mixes, and erosion-control products. In this environment, quality bulk materials help ensure proper drainage, long-term stability, and plant health—whether you are laying a new pathway, topping a garden bed, or regrading a yard. Union Town’s hardiness zone of 8b and its sunny, moderately wet climate create specific performance expectations for materials. Sun exposure favors UV-stable products and mulches that retain color and structure, while seasonal rain highlights the importance of permeable aggregates and well-graded base material to manage runoff and prevent washouts. These local conditions mean homeowners should prioritize materials that balance permeability, compaction resistance, and durability. Hello Gravel helps by connecting you with local suppliers who source regionally appropriate materials, offering scheduling options to match dry windows, and providing calculators and expert guidance so you order the right types and amounts for lasting results.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Hello Gravel connects customers in Union Town with local suppliers and contracted haulers in the West Ohio area. We do not operate our own truck fleet; instead we match you with trusted local producers and dump truck operators and handle scheduling and payment through our platform.
Minimum orders are usually 3 tons through our marketplace. Standard delivery is scheduled for 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is often available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee; fees and exact timing depend on supplier availability and your zip code.
In West Ohio’s freeze-thaw and wet conditions, prioritize materials and assemblies that drain well and resist frost heave. For example, use well-graded aggregates as base layers, avoid very fine loose materials where standing water or repeated freezing occurs, and plan proper slope and compaction for long-term performance.
Common projects include driveways, patios, grading and re-slope work, drainage swales, garden beds, and erosion control. Each project has different depth and compaction needs, so use a material calculator or consult our team to estimate how much gravel, sand, dirt, or stone you will need.
Measure length, width, and desired depth (in feet) to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to convert to cubic yards. If you need tons, multiply cubic yards by the material’s density or use our online material calculator; or contact our team for help with common conversions and project examples.
Prices vary by material type, quantity, and distance from the supplier, but in West Ohio typical ranges are broad. Expect variation on every order—use the Hello Gravel quote tool to get an exact, up-to-date price for your zip code rather than relying on averages.
Possibly. Local municipalities and HOAs can have rules about driveway modifications, curb cuts, material storage, and street parking during delivery. Check with Union Town building or zoning offices and your HOA before ordering, and note any permit numbers or restrictions in Order Notes at checkout.
Yes. Deliveries are typically made by tri-axle dump trucks, so narrow streets, low-hanging wires, soft driveways, steep grades, and tight gates can require a smaller truck or alternate drop location. Provide clear delivery instructions and photos at checkout so the carrier can plan the right truck size and avoid extra fees or delays.
Often yes—regional suppliers commonly offer locally sourced and recycled options like crushed concrete or reclaimed materials. These can be a good, more sustainable choice for base layers and some landscaping uses; availability and specification vary by supplier, so check product details before ordering.
Spring and fall are peak seasons, so lead times can increase and certain materials may sell out more quickly. Winter weather can limit deliveries and production, so plan ahead for big projects and consider ordering early in high-demand months to secure preferred delivery dates.
Drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion and you can request it at checkout, but this service is not guaranteed and depends on safety and site conditions. For precise placement or spreading, plan to have labor or equipment on site or arrange for professional spreading separately.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible—changes are easiest to accommodate before the order is processed and dispatched. We will work with the supplier and hauler to help, but ability to modify or cancel depends on order status and carrier policies, so prompt communication is important.
