Local Insights
North Lewisburg has a population of 6,990, and sits within a broader metro region that serves a metropolitan area population of 2.6+ million. A steady growth rate of 2.33% annually means more home improvements, additions, and new landscaping projects as homeowners respond to increasing demand for livable, low-maintenance yards and upgraded access ways. The local climate—about 228 sunny days per year and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall in a hardiness zone of 8b—creates a balance of sun and moisture that shapes which bulk materials perform best. In this environment, homeowners commonly need materials that manage runoff, resist sun exposure, and support plant health: well-graded aggregates for drainage, stable base mixes for driveways and patios, and nutrient-balanced topsoil and mulch for planting beds. Sourcing quality, regionally appropriate materials helps projects last longer and reduces maintenance in North Lewisburg’s specific climate.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Hello Gravel generally requires a 3-ton minimum order. Standard delivery is scheduled for 2+ business days from order confirmation, with a next-day option available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Delivery fees may be waived in many areas but can apply for small orders or remote drop locations.
Think about function first: durability for driveways, drainage for beds and walkways, and finish appearance for yards. Materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone work differently depending on compaction, drainage, and aesthetics; use the Hello Gravel material quiz or contact our team for a recommendation based on your project and local conditions. Consider local climate and expected traffic when deciding.
Freeze-thaw cycles in West Ohio can cause settling, frost heave, and shifting if subgrades are not prepared properly. Choose materials and base layers that drain well, and allow for slightly thicker installations or geotextile underlayment where freeze-thaw is a concern. Plan projects for late spring or summer when ground is more stable and follow proper compaction and drainage practices.
Poor drainage and clay soils are common local issues that can retain water and cause materials to sink or compact unevenly. Prepare a stable subgrade, add a compacted base where needed, and design positive drainage away from structures. For areas with drainage concerns, choose materials that promote runoff and pair them with edging or curb systems to maintain shape.
Use the simple volume formula: length x width x depth to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to convert to cubic yards; for tons, use the Hello Gravel material calculator or ask our team since tons per yard vary by material density. Always order about 10% extra for waste, compaction, and grading. If unsure, provide project dimensions to our sales team for a quick estimate.
Some local regulations, HOA covenants, or township road weight limits may apply to deliveries and site work in North Lewisburg. Check with your township or HOA before ordering, especially for large loads or commercial projects, and let us know about any restrictions so we can coordinate with the hauler. Our team can help flag common local issues but cannot obtain permits on your behalf.
Peak season is generally spring through early fall when landscaping and construction projects are most active, so deliveries and supplier availability can be limited. We recommend ordering at least several weeks ahead for large jobs and checking next-day availability if you need materials quickly. Booking earlier helps secure preferred delivery dates and avoids seasonal delays.
Yes, delivery trucks are usually large tri-axle dump trucks and need reasonable roadway width, overhead clearance, and turning space. Note narrow lanes, low-hanging wires, steep driveways, or soft yards in your order notes and provide a clear drop area to minimize complications. Drivers will assess site access on arrival and may refuse unsafe placements; additional charges may apply for difficult access.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on safety and the hauler’s policies. Request spreading at checkout and add detailed instructions in Order Notes; the driver will assess whether it can be done safely upon arrival. If spreading is critical, consider hiring a local landscaper or contractor to complete the work.
Materials reflect local geology, so texture, color, and gradation can vary across the West Ohio area. This regional sourcing helps ensure availability and reduces costs, but it means the delivered product may not exactly match online photos. If color or texture is important, note preferences in your order and contact our team for more detail before purchase.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible — changes are easier before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate modifications, but ability to change or cancel depends on supplier and hauler schedules. Review our order policies or call customer service for specific help with your order.
