Local Insights
New Tonsville, with a population of 75,000, is experiencing steady growth at a rate of 2.33% annually, which translates into increasing demand for residential upgrades, new landscaping, and infrastructure improvements. That steady expansion means more driveways, patios, retaining walls, garden projects, and stormwater work where bulk materials are essential. New Tonsville's climate — hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 33.00 inches of annual rainfall — favors year-round outdoor work but also requires materials that balance drainage and stability. Homeowners need a range of supplies (gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, stone) chosen for durability, local appearance, and performance. Quality bulk materials matter here because they reduce erosion, improve plant health, support load-bearing surfaces, and cut down on long-term maintenance in a growing suburban environment.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start with the job: do you need drainage, a stable base, or an attractive top layer? Consider durability, compaction, and appearance for materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, and stone, and factor in local climate (freeze-thaw and heavy rain). Use our material calculator and quiz for estimates, and contact our sales team if you want a recommendation for your specific site.
Price depends on material type, quantity, delivery distance, and seasonal demand. Larger orders often lower the per-ton price, and delivery or next-day service adds fees; Hello Gravel lists transparent pricing and will show delivery charges at checkout.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth (in inches) of the area to be filled, then use our online calculator to convert cubic feet to tons. Remember our minimum order is 3 tons, so round up if your calculation is near that threshold and contact us if you need help with the math.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days from order. Next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee; you can also choose a preferred delivery date in checkout if the date is available.
Materials are delivered by contracted dump trucks (usually tri-axle). Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion—request it at checkout and the driver will assess whether it can be done safely upon arrival, but spreading is not guaranteed.
Yes, check local city codes, county rules, and any HOA covenants before ordering; some projects require permits or have limits on delivery times and visible stockpiles. If you are unsure, contact your local permitting office or HOA and plan accordingly before scheduling delivery.
Freeze-thaw cycles, snow, and heavy rains affect drainage and settlement, so pick materials that match the site's needs—well-draining mixes for wet areas and more stable, compactable mixes where freeze-thaw is a concern. Store materials on pallets or cover them if a delay in installation is expected, and schedule work in appropriate seasons when possible.
Consider function first: some materials are better for load-bearing bases and compaction while others are chosen for surface appearance or planting beds. Evaluate erosion control, drainage, compaction, and aesthetics for materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, and stone, and choose a product intended for your project's purpose.
Contractor pricing and volume discounts may be available depending on order size and local supplier agreements. We accept major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay; contact our sales team to discuss larger or recurring orders and payment arrangements.
Confirm driveway width, overhead obstructions, turning radius, slope, and any parking or staging restrictions to ensure safe truck access. Clear the drop area, mark utilities if digging will follow, and communicate any special instructions in Order Notes to help the driver locate the proper spot.
Natural materials vary by region, so color and texture may differ from photos; if something seems wrong, contact customer service promptly and include photos if possible. We will work to resolve issues according to our policies and can advise on next steps or adjustments.
