Local Insights
Fletcher's population of 1,070 sits within a growing region — including a surrounding metro area of 2.6+ million — and a steady growth rate of 2.33% annually is translating into increased demand for home renovations, infill development, and municipal upgrades. That steady expansion means more driveways, patios, garden beds, grading, and infrastructure work where reliable bulk materials matter. In Fletcher's hardiness zone 8b climate, with about 228 sunny days per year and annual rainfall of 33.00 inches, homeowners need materials that balance drainage and moisture retention. Quality, locally sourced aggregates — from topsoil and mulch to sand and compactable base materials — help projects settle predictably, resist erosion during heavy rains, and establish plantings in sun-exposed conditions.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

You can order a range of bulk aggregates through Hello Gravel, including common groups like gravel, sand, dirt, stone, plus mulch and topsoil. Materials are sourced regionally so color and texture can vary. Use the product descriptions and our aggregate quiz to match materials to your project needs.
Start by matching the material's size and drainage properties to the project — for example, well-draining mixes for driveways and drainage projects, and finer finishes for patios or pathways. Consider local freeze-thaw cycles and expected traffic when picking a material; our team can help you balance durability, appearance, and budget. If you're unsure, use the material calculator or contact our sales team for guidance.
Fletcher experiences freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal precipitation that can cause settling, frost heave, and erosion if materials are not selected and installed correctly. Choose materials and installation methods that allow proper drainage and compaction to reduce damage from freezing. Regular maintenance, regrading, and adding fresh material as needed will extend performance in local conditions.
Spring through early fall is generally best for delivery and installation because the ground is less likely to be frozen or saturated, which helps with compaction and spreading. Winter deliveries are possible but may require extra planning for frozen ground and access. Schedule your preferred date at checkout; standard delivery takes 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee.
Hello Gravel requires a minimum order of 3 tons and delivers via contracted dump trucks (typically tri-axle). Tell us about driveway access, overhead wires, gate width, and turn radius so we can confirm the truck can safely reach the drop zone. Drivers may provide tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service is not guaranteed.
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area, then use our material calculator to convert cubic feet to cubic yards or tons. As a rule of thumb, a typical 1-car gravel driveway might need several tons while larger driveways or full-yard renovations require multiple loads; always allow a small overage for compaction and settling. Contact our team if you want help with a site-specific estimate.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion and if site conditions allow, but spreading is not guaranteed. You can request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess safety and feasibility upon arrival. For guaranteed spreading or precise grading, consider hiring a local contractor.
Local permits, zoning rules, and HOA requirements can apply to driveways and other hardscape changes, and these rules vary by village, county, and HOA. Check with Fletcher village offices, Darke County, and your HOA before ordering materials to confirm setbacks, surface requirements, and any required permits. When in doubt, your contractor or Hello Gravel sales team can help point you to local resources.
Maintenance varies: materials that drain well often need occasional regrading and topping to manage rutting, while finer materials may require more frequent compaction and weed control. All aggregate surfaces benefit from edging, proper drainage, and periodic top-ups after heavy precipitation or freeze-thaw cycles. Plan seasonal inspections and simple upkeep like raking, removing vegetation, and adding material where needed.
Per-ton and per-yard costs vary by material type, local availability, and seasonal demand, so prices will differ across suppliers in the West Ohio area. Hello Gravel offers transparent pricing at checkout, accepts major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay, and shows delivery fees up front where applicable. Use the site calculator or contact our team for a tailored quote for your zip code.
Contractor practices vary: some include delivery in their quote and may handle spreading and compaction, while others expect the supplier to deliver material only. Always clarify with your contractor whether delivery, spreading, compaction, and site prep are included before you finalize plans. If you need help coordinating, Hello Gravel can arrange delivery and provide details so you and your contractor can plan accordingly.
