Local Insights
Dundee is a compact but active community with a city population of 5,500, positioned inside a larger regional market with a metro area population of 2.6+ million. A steady growth rate of 2.33% annually means more homes, renovations, and outdoor projects year over year, which increases demand for basic bulk supplies like gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone. The local climate — hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and annual rainfall of 33.00 inches — favors landscaped yards and outdoor living spaces but also creates specific performance needs: reliable drainage, UV-resistant surfacing, and planting mixes that support both warm-season growth and seasonal storms. For homeowners, that translates into choosing materials with the right gradation and composition for driveways, drainage trenches, raised beds, and patios. Clear, consistent bulk materials reduce callbacks, simplify installation, and help local contractors stay on schedule as Dundee grows.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Pick a material based on use, drainage needs, and appearance. For load-bearing areas choose a stable, well-graded base; for beds or finishing layers choose something that provides the look and drainage you want. Consider local climate and traffic, and use our material calculator or contact our sales team for help matching options available in West Ohio.
We typically deliver by professional dump trucks (often tri-axle) with a 3-ton minimum order. Standard delivery takes 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Drivers may be able to tailgate spread at their discretion; request that service at checkout but understand it is not guaranteed.
Measure the surface area (length x width) and multiply by the desired depth in feet, then divide by 27 to get cubic yards. Convert cubic yards to tons using the material density, which varies by type; our online calculator or sales team can give a quick conversion for typical materials in West Ohio. Add 10-20% for compaction, settling, or waste depending on the project and installation method.
Freeze-thaw cycles and snow can cause shifting and frost heave in poorly prepared surfaces. Use a properly compacted, well-draining base to reduce movement and choose materials that shed water well for top layers. Plan installation during warmer, drier months when possible and account for winter maintenance like snow removal and salt use when selecting surface materials.
Spring through early fall is usually best for deliveries and installation because the ground is less likely to be frozen and compaction is easier. Summer offers the most predictable conditions, while late fall and winter can bring frost, snow, and slower curing or compaction. If you need materials quickly, next-day delivery is an option for qualified orders placed before noon CST.
Prices vary by material type, density, and local supply, so per-ton and per-yard rates can differ widely. The most reliable way to get current pricing for your zip code is to request a quote through our site or contact our sales team. We provide transparent pricing and will show delivery costs and any applicable fees before you complete your order.
Yes. Local township, county, and HOA rules can affect driveway approaches, lot grading, retaining walls, and significant landscape changes. Contact Dundee Township, Wood County building or zoning departments, and your HOA before starting work to confirm permit and setback requirements. Hello Gravel can supply material details for permit applications but cannot advise on specific local approvals.
Lifespan and maintenance depend on material choice, installation quality, and use. Properly installed base layers can last many years, while surface layers may need occasional replenishing, grading, or weeding every few years. Keep drainage clear, address low spots quickly, and follow seasonal maintenance like raking or regrading after freeze-thaw cycles to extend performance.

No, natural variation is normal. Because we source materials regionally, texture and color can vary based on West Ohio geology and local stock. You can note color preferences at checkout and contact our sales team for guidance, but exact matches to photos cannot be guaranteed.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible; changes are easier before the order is processed or dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate modifications, but ability to change or cancel depends on supplier and trucking schedules. Check our order policies or call 855-241-8884 for immediate help.
