Local Insights
Plattekill is a small but active community with a city population of 1,176, situated inside a broader regional market of 2.3+ million people. A steady growth rate of 0.40% annually points to measured, ongoing demand for home renovations, landscape refreshes, and targeted construction projects rather than rapid subdivision. Local climate and geography — about 228 sunny days per year, 33.50 inches of annual rainfall, and USDA hardiness zone 8b — create conditions that favor extended planting seasons but also require attention to runoff and sun exposure. For homeowners this means selecting the right mix of bulk materials — gravel, sand, dirt, stone, mulch, and topsoil — that deliver proper drainage, long-term stability, and UV or moisture resilience. Quality materials and correct gradation matter in Plattekill because regional sourcing and particle size directly affect how a driveway, garden bed, or patio performs through wet and sunny cycles.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

One ton of loose aggregate is roughly 0.6 to 0.8 cubic yards depending on density. Using 1 ton ≈ 0.7 cubic yards as a rule of thumb, it will cover about 110 square feet at a 2-inch depth, 75 square feet at 3 inches, or 60 square feet at 4 inches. These are estimates—actual coverage varies by material and compaction, so use our material calculator for a precise estimate.
Choose based on function, drainage, appearance, and budget—for walkways you may want a material that compacts well, while for planting beds you may prefer something lighter and more decorative. Consider Plattekill’s local climate and regional sourcing since gravel, sand, dirt, stone from local suppliers can vary in color and texture. If you are unsure, use our aggregate quiz or contact our team for a recommendation.
Common supplies include landscape fabric, edging, and a base layer material; typical tools are a wheelbarrow, rake, shovel, and a plate compactor for firm surfaces. For planting beds you may also want a soil amendment and finishing mulch. If you need help matching tools to your chosen material, our team can advise before you order.
Minimum order is 3 tons, which is enough for small garden beds or short pathways. As a rough guide: 3–5 tons for a small patio or raised beds, 5–10 tons to resurface a single-car driveway, and 15–30+ tons for building a new driveway or large grading job. Use our calculator or contact us with your dimensions for a tailored estimate.
Standard delivery requires 2 or more business days from order processing; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. You can choose your preferred delivery date during checkout and we will confirm timing with you before dispatch. Local regional sourcing may affect exact timing.
Clear the drop area of vehicles, debris, and obstacles so a dump truck can safely access the site, and make sure there is space for a pile where material can be left. Mark any fragile areas and note access restrictions in Order Notes; if heavy equipment may be needed, arrange that ahead of time. For any digging or subsurface work, call 811 to locate utilities before you start.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; request the service at checkout and the driver will assess safety and feasibility on arrival. Because our deliveries use contracted haulers, spreading is never guaranteed and depends on site conditions, equipment, and local rules. If precise spreading is required, consider hiring a local landscaper or arranging separate spreading services.
Contact our team as soon as possible—changes are easier before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee all changes after a supplier or hauler has been scheduled. For full details see our order policies or contact customer service for help.
No, natural variation is normal because materials are sourced regionally and reflect local geology—colors and texture can vary between deliveries. You can add color or texture preferences in Order Notes, and our team can advise on local options to get closer to the look you want. If a material looks significantly different than expected, contact customer service so we can help resolve the issue.
We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, and Apple Pay through a secure online checkout. Minimum order is 3 tons and delivery is handled by local contracted trucking companies, typically tri-axle dump trucks. Pricing is transparent in checkout and any delivery options or fees (like next-day delivery) are shown before you pay.
