Local Insights
Summit is home to 23,520 residents and is part of a larger metro area of 2.5+ million people. A steady growth rate of 1.20% annually means construction and landscaping demand is consistent rather than boom-and-bust: homeowners are more often tackling driveway repairs, garden remodels, backyard living spaces, and small additions that require reliable bulk materials. Summit's climate—228 sunny days per year, 34.32 inches of rainfall annually, and a USDA hardiness zone of 8b—creates mixed requirements: projects need materials that manage water effectively during rain events, retain moisture during long sunny stretches, and resist sun-related fading or breakdown. That combination makes properly graded aggregates, dependable topsoil blends, moisture-retaining mulches, and well-specified base materials especially valuable for lasting results.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start with the project goal: drainage, surface for walking or driving, planting beds, or leveling. Consider durability, how well it compacts, and the look you want — materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone each perform differently. Use our material calculator or contact our team for recommendations based on local conditions and your project size.
Measure the length and width of the area and decide the depth in inches, then multiply area by depth and convert to cubic yards or tons. Our online calculator will convert these numbers for you and account for compaction or waste. Keep in mind our minimum order is 3 tons, so smaller jobs may still need that minimum quantity or bagged products.
For small quantities or tight spaces, bagged materials can be more convenient despite a higher per-unit price. For most landscaping and construction jobs, bulk delivery is more cost effective once you need several cubic yards because delivery discounts and lower per-ton pricing offset handling. Factor in your project size, the 3-ton minimum, and any labor for moving material from the drop point.
Standard delivery typically takes 2+ business days after ordering, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets (often tri-axle trucks), and you can choose a preferred delivery date at checkout. Exact timing depends on supplier and traffic, so we confirm a delivery window once your order is scheduled.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion if it can be done safely and efficiently. You can request spreading at checkout, but this service is not guaranteed and is performed at the driver's judgment. For precise grading or large spreading jobs, plan to hire a landscaper or equipment operator.
Because we source regionally, appearance and texture can vary; natural materials reflect local geology, so they may not exactly match online photos. You can add color or texture preferences in the order notes, but exact matches cannot be guaranteed. If the material seems incorrect on delivery, contact customer service and we will help resolve the issue.
Clear a safe drop zone with enough room for a dump truck to turn and park, and remove obstacles like low branches, vehicles, or temporary structures. If you need material dropped on a public street, check local permit requirements and notify your supplier in advance. Mark the preferred drop spot with flags or paint and protect lawns or paved areas if possible.
Wet weather can make sites muddy and affect how materials compact or spread, and frozen ground in winter may limit where trucks can safely drop loads. Choose materials suited for local freeze-thaw cycles and drainage needs, and expect occasional delivery delays during severe weather. If timing is critical, discuss scheduling options with our team to find the best delivery window.
Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to modify or cancel an order; changes are easiest before the order is processed or dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but modifications cannot be guaranteed once the supplier or truck is scheduled. Review our order confirmation and reach out promptly for help.
The basic ordering process is the same, but contractors often order larger volumes, schedule recurring deliveries, and coordinate drop points for crews and equipment. Homeowners typically benefit from using the material calculator and requesting delivery guidance for small or tricky sites. Either way, our team can help with quantity estimates, delivery windows, and material recommendations.
