Local Insights
Pitman (city population 8,390) is part of a growing local market where steady demand for home improvement and outdoor projects reflects a measured growth pattern. With a regional growth rate of 1.20% annually and access to a metro area population 2.5+ million, homeowners can expect continued interest in renovations, driveway and patio upgrades, and landscape refreshes. The climate—228 sunny days per year and an annual rainfall of 34.32 inches in hardiness zone 8b—means materials must balance drainage and stability with plant-friendly characteristics. That drives demand for a range of bulk supplies from soils and mulches that support planting to coarse aggregates and sands used for base layers and drainage. For Pitman projects, reliable, locally sourced bulk materials reduce surprises, while clear quantity guidance and scheduled delivery help homeowners and contractors match materials to seasonal timing and project scale.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Choose based on function: drainage, load-bearing, or surface finish. Coarser materials typically drain better and are good for base layers, while finer materials compact smoother for walkways. Consider local soil and slope, and use our material calculator or contact our sales team for a recommendation based on your project size and site conditions.
Pitman sees freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal rain, which affect drainage and settling. Clay or loamy soils hold moisture longer, so you may need a more free-draining base. Also factor in slope, shaded areas that stay wet, and any neighborhood rules that affect visible surfaces.
Common projects include driveways, walkways, patios, base layers for pavers, erosion control, and garden beds. Bulk materials are also used for site grading and filling low spots before landscaping. Contractors and homeowners use them for both temporary and long-term solutions depending on compaction and drainage needs.
Measure length, width, and desired depth to get cubic feet, convert to cubic yards, then to tons using a typical density estimate. Our online material calculator can do this for you and account for compaction and waste. Remember Hello Gravel's minimum order is 3 tons, so adjust quantities or combine materials if needed.
Avoid deliveries during heavy rain or freeze-thaw periods to reduce tracking and settling. Late spring through early fall is generally the easiest window for outdoor material work. We offer standard delivery in 2+ business days and a next-day option for orders placed before noon CST; pick a dry forecast window and allow time for site prep.
Minimum orders start at 3 tons and most deliveries arrive by dump truck (typically tri-axle). Standard delivery is usually 2+ business days, with a next-day option available for qualifying orders. Tailgate spreading can be requested at checkout, but drivers perform spreading at their discretion and we cannot guarantee it.
Costs vary by material type, distance from the supplier, and quantity ordered, so we provide transparent, location-based quotes on our site. In many areas delivery may be included or available for a small fee; the best way to get an accurate number is to enter your zip code and get a quote. For larger contractor orders, contact our team for volume pricing and scheduling help.
Generally, coarser, angular materials drain better and make a strong base, while finer materials compact to create a smoother walking surface. For durable driveways and load-bearing areas use a well-graded base topped with a suitable surface material; for plant beds and paths choose materials that balance drainage with appearance. If unsure, ask our sales team to recommend a layered approach that meets both drainage and durability needs.
Contact our team as soon as possible; changes are easiest before an order is processed or dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate modifications but cannot guarantee all changes, especially once trucks are en route. If you need to reschedule delivery, tell us early to improve the chance of adjustment.
Some projects, like widening driveways or changing curb access, may require local permits or HOA approvals. Check Pitman borough rules and any neighborhood covenants before ordering large quantities. If you're unsure, our team can remind you to verify permits during project planning, but we cannot obtain permits on your behalf.
Contractors often schedule staged deliveries to match phases of work, reserve space for truck access, and communicate staging areas to the hauler. They also plan for compaction equipment and storage so materials stay clean and dry. If you are a contractor, call our sales team for delivery windows and to arrange multiple drops or offload requirements.
Because materials are regionally sourced, color and texture can vary from photos; if you have concerns, contact customer service promptly and provide photos. We will review the issue and work to resolve it per our policies. Keep in mind return or replacement options depend on the material and how it was used on site.
