Local Insights
Little Falls Township serves a community of 11,099 residents and sits within a larger metro area of 2.5+ million people. A steady growth rate of 0.69% annually suggests modest but consistent demand for home improvement and small-scale construction projects rather than a building boom. Combined with a climate that averages 33.00 inches of rainfall and 152/year sunny days in a hardiness zone of 8b, homeowners here frequently need materials that balance drainage, durability, and seasonal performance. That means reliable bulk supplies—gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone—are important for everything from foundation prep and drainage beds to patios, paths, and planting beds. For residents, the trend is toward practical upgrades that improve outdoor living and reduce maintenance, so quality, locally sourced aggregates and clear delivery scheduling matter more than ever.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Start by matching material performance to the project: look for good drainage and compaction for driveways and paths, and loose, well-draining mixes for planting beds. Consider local climate and soil—materials in our region reflect local geology—so ask about particle size and stability when ordering gravel, sand, dirt, stone and other aggregates. Use our material quiz or contact our team for a recommendation based on your project and traffic levels.
Some big-box stores offer limited delivery, but availability, minimums, and truck types vary by location. Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers and professional dump truck fleets that handle scheduled deliveries across Little Falls Township; check your zip code at checkout to confirm service. Ordering through our platform often gives clearer upfront pricing and more delivery options than calling multiple stores.
Measure the area in square feet and decide the desired depth in inches, then use this rule: area x depth / 324 = cubic yards. Convert cubic yards to tons using a general range (materials vary) or our online calculator—different aggregates weigh differently, so the calculator or our team can give a precise tonnage estimate for gravel, sand, dirt, stone and mixes. Always order a small overage (5-10%) for compaction, settling, and grading.
Good planting beds usually start with nutrient-rich topsoil or amended dirt combined with organic mulch for moisture retention and weed suppression. For heavy or poorly drained spots, mixing in sand or stone for improved drainage can help; regional soil tests are useful to pinpoint exact needs. If you are unsure, request a soil test or contact our team for guidance based on local conditions.
Order at least a few days ahead during spring and fall, which are peak seasons for landscaping work, and avoid scheduling on days with heavy rain or frozen ground when placement may be difficult. Our standard delivery window is 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Book your preferred date in checkout and confirm access details to help ensure a smooth delivery.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this service depends on site safety, access, and the truck crew’s assessment upon arrival. Request tailgate spreading at checkout and be ready to accept the material if the driver determines spreading is not safe or feasible. We do not guarantee spreading services; for guaranteed spreading, consider hiring local labor after delivery.
Natural materials vary by region and by quarry; color, grain, and texture can change based on local geology and the time of year. Photos are representative but not exact—you can note color preferences in Order Notes, and we’ll communicate those to suppliers, though exact matches are not guaranteed. If appearance is critical, request a sample or contact customer service before ordering.
Typical tri-axle dump trucks used in our network often carry roughly 10 to 12 cubic yards, but actual capacity varies by truck and material weight. Coverage depends on material type and how deep you want to spread it—our online calculator and sales team can convert truckload volumes into area coverage for gravel, sand, dirt, stone and mixes. If you need a precise truck count, request a quote and we will confirm truck size and estimated loads.
Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; changes are easier to accommodate before the order is processed and trucks are dispatched. We will do our best to help, but modifications after dispatch may not be possible and could incur fees. Check your order confirmation for contact details and timing guidelines.
Clear a turning and drop area for the dump truck, remove vehicles and obstacles, and note any low-hanging wires or tree limbs that could block access. Mark your preferred drop spot with flags or stakes, confirm gate codes or property access in Order Notes, and make sure the ground can support a heavy truck—if the site is wet or soft, consider an alternative location to avoid damage. If you have special access concerns, tell us before delivery so we can coordinate with the driver.
