Local Insights
Landisville has a population of 1,480 and sits within a growing regional market that is part of a larger metro area of 2.5+ million. A steady growth rate of 1.20% annually means homeowners are seeing gradual increases in renovations, yard upgrades, and small‑scale construction rather than a sudden building boom. In practical terms, that steady demand favors reliable, easy‑to‑source bulk materials for projects like driveway refreshes, grading, patios, and foundation backfill. The local climate — hardiness zone 8b with 228/year sunny days and 34.32 inches of annual rainfall — shapes which materials perform best: items that shed water, resist UV exposure, and tolerate periodic wetting will last longer here. For homeowners, that translates into choosing well‑draining aggregates, resilient soils, and durable surface materials that match Landisville’s seasonal patterns and incremental construction trends.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Choose materials based on drainage needs, load, and finish. Gravel, sand, dirt, stone serve different roles: use stable, angular aggregates as base for driveways, finer materials for leveling or bedding, and lighter top layers for walking surfaces. Consider local climate and how much maintenance you want, and use our material calculator or contact our team for a tailored recommendation.
Landisville's seasonal rain and freeze-thaw cycles make drainage and compaction important. In wetter or clay-prone areas, pick materials that shed water and compact well for a stable base, while lighter or well-draining mixes work better for surface layers. Regional sourcing means texture and color can vary, so plan around function first and appearance second.
Estimate by calculating the area and desired depth in inches, convert to cubic yards, then convert to tons using the material's density or use our online calculator. For example, a 12 ft by 100 ft driveway at 4 in depth is roughly 14-16 cubic yards; a small 10 ft by 10 ft patio at 2 in depth is under 1 cubic yard. If you are unsure, use our calculator or contact sales with dimensions for a quick estimate.
Check access for dump trucks: narrow streets, low tree limbs, overhead wires, and tight driveways can affect drop location. Note any HOA rules or local permit needs ahead of delivery and add clear delivery instructions at checkout so the driver can plan the safest placement. We connect you with local haulers who will assess conditions on arrival and may adjust the drop location if needed.
Standard delivery is 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. You can choose a preferred delivery date during checkout and we will confirm timing with the hauler. Exact arrival windows are not guaranteed, so plan for flexibility on the day of delivery.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion and you can request it at checkout. This service depends on the job site, safety, and truck configuration, so it is not guaranteed. If spreading is important, note it in your order and be prepared to do or arrange final spreading.
Demand rises in spring and fall, which can tighten delivery slots and lead times. Wet or frozen ground affects delivery placement and compaction, so avoid scheduling heavy deliveries during prolonged rain or thaw when possible. Plan ahead for peak seasons and book a delivery date early to secure your preferred timing.
Contractors should confirm required quantities, material gradation, compaction needs, delivery access, and preferred delivery dates. Ask for a quote that includes delivery fees, truck type, and minimums, and provide clear staging instructions or permit details. Clear communication reduces delays and keeps projects on schedule.
Pricing is commonly quoted per ton or per cubic yard and can vary by local supplier, material type, and delivery distance. Hello Gravel has a minimum order (typically 3 tons) and may include delivery in the quote or show a separate delivery fee. Request a local quote to see accurate pricing for your zip code and project size.
Compare materials by function: think drainage, compaction, load-bearing needs, and surface appearance rather than just names. Use coarser, angular mixes for structural bases, finer materials for leveling or bedding, and screened dirt or topsoil for planting. If you need help, use our aggregate quiz or talk with our team to match material properties to your project goals.
Natural materials vary by region, so color and texture may differ from photos; include appearance notes at checkout if color matters. Contact our customer service as soon as possible to request changes—modifications are easier before the order is dispatched and we will do our best to accommodate you. For concerns after delivery, reach out promptly so we can work toward a solution.
