Local Insights
In West Wendover, with a city population of 4,013 and located within a metro area of 2.5+ million residents, construction and landscaping needs reflect steady, incremental activity rather than rapid boom cycles. A growth rate of 0.40% annually points to ongoing yard upgrades, small-scale building projects, and infrastructure improvements concentrated around existing neighborhoods and transportation corridors. The local climate—228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall—combined with a hardiness zone of 8b means homeowners often balance drought-tolerant plantings with occasional wet-season runoff. That combination increases demand for a range of bulk materials: stable base fills for driveways and pads, well-draining soils and sands for planting areas, and resilient surface covers to withstand UV exposure and periodic rain. Choosing quality, regionally sourced aggregates and soils helps projects last longer and reduces maintenance in West Wendover’s mixed-weather conditions. West Wendover’s cycles of sun and rain create specific performance requirements for materials. Periods of intense sun can cause surface materials to fade or break down, while episodic rainfall can trigger erosion and settling if drainage isn’t addressed. Local soils and regional geology influence compaction, permeability, and color, so material selection should account for both function and appearance. For homeowners, that means prioritizing drainage-capable mixes, stable subgrades, and weather-resistant surface options. Hello Gravel streamlines that process by connecting you with local suppliers who understand regional materials, helping you estimate quantities, choose appropriate mixes, and schedule deliveries that fit West Wendover’s seasonal patterns.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days after order processing for West Wendover addresses. Next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee; availability depends on local supplier and truck schedules. We confirm your delivery window after the order is accepted, but exact timing can vary with weather and local demand.
Materials are delivered by professional dump trucks (often tri-axle) from local haulers partnered with Hello Gravel. Drivers will offload at the location you specify, but access constraints, overhead wires, and property conditions can affect where trucks can safely dump. You can add delivery notes at checkout to help drivers plan placement.
Cost varies by material type, distance from the quarry, and the size of the load, so there is no single price. Common factors that affect price include material type (gravels vs. lighter soils), delivery distance, required truck size, and any add-ons like next-day service or tailgate spreading. Use our online quote tool or request a customized estimate to see pricing for your zip code.
A 10-yard load refers to about 10 cubic yards of material and is commonly supplied by larger dump trucks. As a rough guide, 1 cubic yard covers about 324 sq ft at a 1-inch depth, so 10 cubic yards covers roughly 3,240 sq ft at 1 inch; coverage changes with depth and material compaction. For typical driveway or base depths (2-4 inches), that same 10-yard load will cover considerably less area, so check our material calculator for a precise estimate.
Coverage depends on material density and the depth you need. A practical estimate is that 1 ton will cover roughly 200 to 250 sq ft at a 1-inch depth for commonly used aggregates in this region, though heavier materials cover less area and lighter soils cover more. For accurate planning, convert your desired depth to cubic yards and use our calculator or contact our team with your project dimensions.
Start by defining the project purpose (drainage, decorative surface, base layer, backfill) and the required depth and compaction. Because Hello Gravel sources regionally, gravel, sand, dirt, and stone in West Wendover reflect local geology, so consider particle size and durability for driveways, drainage needs for low spots, and appearance for decorative areas. If you are unsure, use our aggregate quiz or call our team with photos and dimensions for personalized guidance.
Quantities depend on area and depth. For example, a 20 ft by 20 ft driveway at 4 inches deep needs about 5 cubic yards, which is roughly 6 to 8 tons depending on material density; pathways and garden beds typically need less. Use our material calculator or provide your project dimensions to get a recommended quantity and account for waste by adding 5-10% extra for irregular areas.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but it is not guaranteed and depends on safety and job conditions. You can request spreading during checkout and include placement details in the order notes; the driver will assess feasibility on arrival. If you need guaranteed spreading or grading, consider hiring a local contractor for finish work.
Materials vary because Hello Gravel sources regionally, so texture and color reflect local geology and seasonal quarry conditions. Natural aggregates like gravel, sand, dirt, and stone will have inherent variation in color and particle shape, which can affect appearance and compaction. If color or texture is critical, add notes at checkout and contact our team to discuss available options before ordering.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; modifications are easier before the order is processed or dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but changes may not be possible once a supplier has loaded the material or a truck is en route. Check your confirmation email for contact details and order deadlines.
