Local Insights
Jordan is a small, growing community of 710 residents within a larger regional market that supports 2.5+ million people. That steady 1.90% annual growth points to continued demand for home improvements and infill construction—projects that rely on reliable access to bulk materials. With 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, local climate influences how homeowners plan yards, driveways, and foundations: sunny conditions increase UV and drying effects, moderate rainfall drives a need for good drainage and erosion control, and a hardiness zone of 8b expands planting options but also shapes soil amendment and topsoil needs. For homeowners in Jordan, that means ordering the right mix of aggregates, topsoil, sand, and mulches matters for longevity and performance across landscaping, hardscaping, and basic site work. Local soils, freeze cycles, and precipitation patterns create practical requirements for material selection and placement. Well-graded aggregates and appropriate base materials reduce settling and rutting after wet periods, while organic amendments and erosion-control products help establish plantings in a sunny, moderately wet climate. Those conditions make it important to match material characteristics—particle size, compaction behavior, and organic content—to the intended use. Hello Gravel helps Jordan homeowners by translating these local factors into clear recommendations, providing quantity guidance, and coordinating local suppliers and delivery so projects use materials suited to East Butte's climate and ongoing growth trends.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Homeowners in Jordan often choose from a mix of gravel, sand, dirt, and stone depending on the job. Pick materials based on function—drainage, stability, or appearance—and local availability, since regional sourcing affects texture and color. Use a material calculator or contact our team to match the right aggregate to your project.
Delivery radius varies by supplier but rural West Montana routes commonly serve 30–50 miles from a supplier yard; some haulers travel farther for larger orders. Availability depends on local fleets, road access, and order size, so check service for zip code 59337 and expect differences for remote addresses. Minimum orders (3 tons) and additional long-haul fees may apply.
Jordan experiences freeze-thaw cycles, snow, and muddy spring conditions that affect delivery and installation. Schedule major deliveries in drier months when possible, and allow extra time in winter for frozen ground or in spring for soft access. Proper drainage and compaction are also more important in climates with freeze-thaw.
Start by calculating cubic yards: length (ft) × width (ft) × depth (ft) ÷ 27 gives cubic yards, then multiply by about 1.2–1.6 to estimate tons depending on material density. For example, a 100 ft × 12 ft driveway at 3 inches deep is about 11.1 cubic yards or roughly 13–18 tons. Use our online calculator or contact sales for a project-specific estimate.
Standard delivery is usually available in 2+ business days, with next-day options for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Fees depend on distance, order size, and access—many areas get free delivery but remote drops or short notice requests may incur charges. Drivers use dump trucks (often tri-axle) and will confirm timing and placement before arrival.
Permit needs vary by project and location; simple material deliveries often don’t require permits, but road obstruction, curb cuts, or driveway expansions may. Always check with Petroleum County or the city of Jordan for local rules, and contact our team if you need help identifying likely requirements before you order. We can also suggest local contractors who handle permitting and installation.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, and you can request it at checkout, but this service cannot be guaranteed. Additional services like spreading, compacting, or disposal are often available from local contractors rather than the delivery driver. If you need spreading or compaction, plan to book a contractor or request recommendations when you place your order.
Choose materials based on the intended function: prioritize drainage where water must escape, stability and compaction for base layers, and appearance or walkability for finished surfaces. Because Jordan materials reflect local geology, consult product descriptions and our team to match a material’s particle size and compaction properties to your application. If in doubt, ask for help—small projects can often be done with one delivery, while larger projects may need layered materials.
Materials are sourced regionally, so color, shape, and texture can vary from photos or samples. Natural variation and local geology mean you may see differences in size or color from batch to batch, and material behavior can change with moisture and temperature. If appearance is important, note color preferences at checkout and contact customer service for guidance before ordering.
