Local Insights
Welcome has a city population of 1,010 and sits within a larger metro region of 2.5+ million people. That modest, steady growth rate of 0.40% annually signals ongoing demand for housing updates, infrastructure maintenance, and new landscaping projects rather than a sudden building boom. In this climate—with 228 sunny days per year, 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, and a local hardiness zone of 8b—homeowners and contractors need materials that balance drainage, durability, and moisture control. Quality bulk materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, topsoil, and mulch matter because they determine how well driveways shed water, how planting beds retain moisture, and how patios and paths withstand weather and traffic. Choosing the right particle sizes, blends, and delivery timing helps projects perform better and last longer in Welcome’s specific conditions.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

It depends on expected traffic, budget, and drainage needs. Choose a material that compacts well for a stable surface, and that allows water to drain to avoid freeze-thaw damage in Minnesota. Use our material calculator or contact the sales team for help matching options like gravel, sand, dirt, stone to your project and budget.
Cost varies by material type, order size, distance from local suppliers, and site access. Hello Gravel requires a 3-ton minimum and many areas qualify for free delivery; get an instant quote by entering your zip code or calling our team for a customized price. Additional fees may apply for expedited delivery or difficult access.
Look for materials and installation methods that promote drainage and resist movement when frozen and thawed. Layering a stable base and a permeable surface helps reduce heaving and rutting during freeze-thaw cycles. Regional suppliers often offer locally proven mixes, so ask our team for options suited to Welcome’s climate.
Plan deliveries for spring through fall where possible; winter and early spring can bring snow, ice, and ground frost that slow unloading and spreading. Standard delivery takes 2+ business days, and next-day service is available for orders placed before noon CST, but always build extra time into your project schedule during weather-prone seasons. Contact us early to reserve a delivery window.
Yes—Hello Gravel connects you with local suppliers and haulers serving Welcome and the surrounding zip codes. Availability depends on your exact zip code, local inventory, and trucking schedules, so check your zip on our site or contact the sales team for confirmation. Regional sourcing means materials reflect local geology and may vary in color and texture.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide the depth you need in inches, then convert to cubic yards using the formula: cubic yards = (length(ft) x width(ft) x depth(in)) / 324. Round up for compaction and waste, then use our online material calculator or call us for help and to confirm minimum order requirements. Keep in mind different materials have different weights per cubic yard, so we can convert cubic yards to tons if needed.
Prices depend on processing, material density, and local supply; generally, processed or decorative materials cost more than basic fill materials. Delivery distance and seasonal demand also affect pricing. For current, local pricing enter your zip code on our site or contact our team for a detailed comparison.
Often yes, depending on supplier stock and truck availability in the area. Next-day delivery is offered for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee, and same-week scheduling is possible for many contractor orders—call our sales team to discuss frequent deliveries or large-volume needs. Lead time may be required for very large or specialty orders.
Clear the intended drop area of vehicles, debris, and low branches and mark the preferred dump location with flags or cones. Ensure truck access, note any overhead wires or narrow gates, and protect nearby landscaping or hard surfaces if you don’t want material on them. Proper prep speeds delivery and reduces the chance of extra fees or delays.
Select materials with the right particle size and permeability for the slope and soil at your site; coarser, well-draining layers paired with a stable base usually perform better for drainage. Consider a layered approach—base, filter, and surface—to manage runoff and reduce erosion. If you’re unsure, our team can recommend material blends based on local conditions and project goals.
Materials come from local quarries and sites, so color, grain, and texture reflect the area’s geology and can vary by supplier and season. Performance can also change with local climate—Minnesota’s freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal moisture levels influence long-term behavior. You can add appearance preferences in your order notes or request guidance from our team when deciding which locally sourced options best suit your project.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible by phone or text so we can try to accommodate changes before processing or dispatch. For delivery issues or material concerns, reach out promptly and we will work with you and the local supplier to resolve the situation; see our policies for specifics on refunds. Quick communication improves the chances of a satisfactory outcome.
