Local Insights
Six Lakes is a close-knit community of 2,010 residents situated within the larger West Michigan region of 2.5+ million people. A steady annual growth rate of 1.20% points to ongoing, incremental demand for home improvements, new construction, and infrastructure upkeep as households expand and homeowners reinvest. The local climate—about 228 sunny days a year and roughly 34.25 inches of rainfall—together with a mild Hardiness Zone of 8b, shapes practical material needs: yards and beds benefit from soils and mulches that support a longer growing season, while driveways, patios, and foundations require stable base materials and good drainage to resist washout and settling. For Six Lakes homeowners, access to reliable bulk supplies—gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone—helps projects finish faster, perform better across seasons, and avoid costly rework.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Prices vary by material, supplier, and delivery distance, but most homeowners in the area typically see a range rather than an exact price. Expect factors like type of material, truck access, and quantity to affect cost; contact us for a local quote. Minimum orders start at 3 tons and regional sourcing means texture and color may vary for gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
First calculate volumes: the slab volume determines concrete needs, and a separate base depth (usually 3-6 inches) determines aggregate needs. Multiply area by depth and convert to cubic yards, then add 5-10% for waste and compaction and request a quote for both concrete and base materials. For local pricing and delivery to Six Lakes, use our material calculator or contact our team for a tailored estimate.
Deliveries are typically made by contracted dump truck fleets, often tri-axle trucks that commonly carry roughly 10-15 cubic yards per load. Exact truck size depends on supplier and site access; tight driveways or low-hanging wires may require smaller trucks or different drop locations. Confirm access details at checkout so we can match the right hauler for gravel, sand, dirt, stone deliveries.
Standard delivery is 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee when local suppliers and haulers can accommodate it. Availability depends on your zip code and supplier schedules, so check your zip code on our site or contact our team to confirm. We will schedule a delivery window once the order is processed, but exact timing is not guaranteed.
Consider load bearing, drainage, desired appearance, and local climate when choosing materials: heavier traffic areas need denser, well-draining aggregates, while plant beds may favor lighter, decorative mixes. Regional sourcing means local options reflect Six Lakes geology, so view samples or notes and use our aggregate quiz to narrow choices. If unsure, call our sales team for practical recommendations for gravel, sand, dirt, stone based on your project and site conditions.
Measure the area in square feet and decide the required depth, then use the formula: cubic yards = (area in sq ft x depth in inches) / 324. Always order an additional 5-10% to account for compaction, settling, and waste. If you prefer, use our online material calculator or contact us with project dimensions and we will help verify quantities for gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
Natural materials vary by region and supplier, so color, texture, and particle size may differ from online images. Due to regional sourcing and local geology, exact matches cannot be guaranteed, but you can add color or texture notes at checkout and request photos from the supplier when available. If appearance is critical, ask our team for local samples or guidance before placing your order of gravel, sand, dirt, stone.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on safety, truck access, and local regulations. You can request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess the site upon arrival; if spreading is not possible, the load will be dumped and left for you to level. For larger spreading needs, consider hiring a local contractor or asking our team for recommendations.
Michigan seasonal changes can impact delivery windows and material performance: wet or frozen ground may restrict truck access and increase compaction or settling. Choose materials and base depths that handle freeze-thaw cycles and drainage, and plan deliveries for drier periods when possible. Check availability for your zip code and allow extra lead time during spring thaw and winter months.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible to request changes; modifications are easiest before the order is processed and dispatched. Changes depend on supplier and hauler availability and may be limited once the load is scheduled, so prompt communication increases the chance we can accommodate you. Refer to our order and refund policy for details, and call 855-241-8884 or text 844-407-3734 for quick assistance.
