What to know about Phippsburg
Why Phippsburg homeowners choose Hello Gravel
Phippsburg's population of 1,950 and its place within a larger regional market of 603,000 mean homeowners face steady, predictable demand for repairs, landscaping updates, and small-scale building projects rather than a construction boom. With a growth rate of 0.50% annually, most activity is incremental—routine driveway maintenance, drainage upgrades, garden refreshes, and seasonal hardscape work. The local climate—47.00 inches of annual rainfall, 215 sunny days per year, and a hardiness zone of 7b—shapes material selection: you need supplies that handle regular precipitation, shed water effectively, and support planting suited to the zone. That translates to relying on a mix of bulk materials (soil, sand, mulch, and various aggregates) for grading, erosion control, and root-zone preparation, plus heavier stone for long-lasting driveways and retaining features. Quality, properly sized materials matter here because they determine how well installations shed water, resist settling, and support plantings over time.

Hello Gravel found me while I was looking for dirt to fill a hole that opened up in my back yard. I originally searched on DirtMatch and when I spoke with Chuck I was originally quoted for 1 ton of dirt. After showing pictures it turned out I needed less than half of that. Chuck talked me through the process of picking the right soil, how to fill the hole, and where to get what I needed from the Lowes local to me. Uploaded pictures of how we found it, after we dug out all the overhang and cleaned it out, and after we filled it in.
I saved $400 by talking with Chuck and it only took like 3 hours.
I wasn't even an official customer and Chuck took the time to help me with the hole in my yard. And on a weekend no less!!!
What I'm saying is if you're looking for honest, kind, caring people to help you with your job. From my experience, this is the place.

Phippsburg delivery questions
How much does a cubic yard of materials cost delivered to Phippsburg, ME?
Delivered price per cubic yard in Phippsburg depends on the material type (gravel, sand, dirt, stone), local supplier rates, and delivery distance. Hello Gravel lists transparent pricing on the site and can provide an exact delivered price for your zip code; use the calculator or request a quote for a precise number. Keep in mind regional sourcing can affect color and texture, which may slightly change cost.
What does a typical truckload deliver to Phippsburg include and how many cubic yards is one truck?
A typical tri-axle dump truck used in our network usually carries about 10 to 12 cubic yards, though truck size can vary by supplier and access needs. Final pricing for a truckload depends on the material and haul distance; request a quote to see per-truck and per-yard pricing for Phippsburg. If site access limits large trucks, smaller loads or multiple trips may be needed and can affect cost.
How much material do I need to resurface a 12x40 ft driveway at common depths?
Estimate material by area and depth: a 12x40 ft driveway is 480 sq ft. At 2 inches deep you need about 3 cubic yards, and at 3 inches deep about 4.5 cubic yards. Use our material calculator or contact our team for a tailored recommendation based on the project and material type.
Do you deliver different material types to Phippsburg and how do prices vary?
Yes; we deliver a range of bulk materials including gravel, sand, dirt, and decorative stone, with availability reflecting local suppliers around Phippsburg. Prices vary by material, grade, and seasonal availability, so use our online quote tool to compare options. If you have color or texture preferences, add them in Order Notes and we will try to match local inventory.
What are the delivery minimums, access fees, or extra charges for Phippsburg and nearby towns?
Our standard minimums and fees depend on the supplier serving your zip code, but Hello Gravel's minimum order is typically 3 tons. Extra charges can apply for long haul distances, difficult access, required permits, night or weekend deliveries, or shuttle service when large trucks cannot reach the drop location. Provide detailed access notes at checkout so we can surface any potential fees before you order.
Can I get same-week or emergency delivery and is tailgate spreading available in spring and summer?
Standard delivery is scheduled for 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee, subject to supplier availability. Tailgate spreading may be offered at the driver's discretion; you can request it at checkout but it is not guaranteed. For emergency or same-week needs during busy seasons, contact our team early—we will try to accommodate but extra fees or limited options may apply.
How much area does one cubic yard cover at 2-inch and 3-inch depths in landscaping projects?
One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet. At 2 inches (0.167 ft) depth one cubic yard covers about 162 sq ft, and at 3 inches (0.25 ft) it covers about 108 sq ft. These figures apply to any bulk material and are useful for planning patios, paths, and top-dressing.
Do you offer bulk discounts or tiered pricing for large orders to Phippsburg?
Many local suppliers in our network offer tiered pricing or discounts for larger quantities, but availability and thresholds vary by supplier and material. If you are ordering 5, 10, or 20+ yards, request a custom quote through our site or call our team to see volume pricing and delivery options for Phippsburg. We will show any available discounts and the best delivery plan for large orders.
Can you deliver to tight-access or waterfront cottage properties in Phippsburg and are there extra charges?
We can often deliver to tight or waterfront properties, but feasibility depends on road width, turning radius, weight limits, and no-parking zones near the drop site. If large trucks cannot reach the spot, suppliers may use smaller trucks or shuttle loads, which can add handling charges. Add detailed access notes and photos at checkout or contact customer service so we can recommend the best delivery method and any additional costs.
How do I schedule and pay for a delivery to Phippsburg and what information is required for an accurate quote?
Schedule deliveries online by entering your zip code, choosing material, quantity, and preferred delivery date; you can also call or text our team for help. For an accurate quote provide delivery address, desired depth or quantity, material type, and any access notes or photos; payment is accepted by major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay. After you place the order we confirm supplier availability and provide a delivery window.
How should I choose materials for Phippsburg projects given local climate and ground conditions?
Select materials based on project needs (drainage, stability, aesthetics) and Phippsburg's coastal climate; for example, prioritize well-draining mixes for areas with freeze-thaw cycles and salt exposure. Regional sourcing means materials reflect local geology, so discuss project goals with our team to match the right grade and size from nearby suppliers. Use our aggregate quiz or consult a salesperson for homeowner-friendly recommendations.
