What to know about Caddo Parish
Why Caddo Parish homeowners choose Hello Gravel
Caddo Parish homeowners plan projects in a community with a city population of 236,000 and a metro area population of 2.5+ million, and that population profile shapes steady, practical demand for materials. A growth rate of 0.69% annually suggests incremental renovation and targeted new construction rather than a building boom—more homeowners updating driveways, improving drainage, and adding low-maintenance yards than large-scale subdivisions. The local climate drives many material choices: an annual rainfall of 228.00 inches and only 8/year sunny days make water-management solutions and moisture-tolerant supplies essential. Homeowners and contractors are prioritizing materials that shed or absorb water appropriately—good base aggregates for driveways, well-draining sands, amended soils for planting beds, and durable mulches—so projects last longer and require less rework in this wet environment.

Hello Gravel found me while I was looking for dirt to fill a hole that opened up in my back yard. I originally searched on DirtMatch and when I spoke with Chuck I was originally quoted for 1 ton of dirt. After showing pictures it turned out I needed less than half of that. Chuck talked me through the process of picking the right soil, how to fill the hole, and where to get what I needed from the Lowes local to me. Uploaded pictures of how we found it, after we dug out all the overhang and cleaned it out, and after we filled it in.
I saved $400 by talking with Chuck and it only took like 3 hours.
I wasn't even an official customer and Chuck took the time to help me with the hole in my yard. And on a weekend no less!!!
What I'm saying is if you're looking for honest, kind, caring people to help you with your job. From my experience, this is the place.

Caddo Parish delivery questions
What types of materials work best for driveways and parking areas in Caddo Parish?
For driveways and parking areas in Caddo Parish, choose materials designed for load-bearing and drainage. Materials like crushed stone mixes, compactable aggregates, and well-graded base blends provide stability while allowing water to drain. Consider local sourcing—materials reflect regional geology—so request samples or photos if appearance matters. Ask our team for a recommendation based on traffic, slope, and budget.
How should I budget for bulk material delivery for a typical residential project in Caddo Parish?
Budget for material cost plus delivery, with a minimum order of about 3 tons for most suppliers. Delivery pricing depends on distance, access, and service level; standard delivery typically takes 2+ business days while next-day options may cost extra. Include a small contingency for site preparation, unexpected waste, or slight overages when estimating total cost. Contact our team for a tailored quote for your zip code.
Which materials hold up best in Caddo Parish's hot, humid climate and occasional flooding?
In Caddo Parish's humid, warm climate, choose materials that resist breakdown and compact well to limit erosion and weed growth. Well-draining aggregates and denser base mixes perform better where heavy rains occur, while organic materials may break down faster. For flood-prone areas, use materials that allow water flow and are easy to regrade after events. Always consider elevating finished grades and combining materials with proper drainage solutions.
When is the best time of year to schedule deliveries and landscaping work in Caddo Parish?
Spring through fall is generally best for landscaping and hardscape work in Caddo Parish when ground conditions are drier. Avoid scheduling major earthwork during peak rainy seasons to reduce the risk of muddy conditions and delivery delays. If you need materials quickly, next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST, but plan at least 2+ business days for standard delivery. Book early for busy seasons to secure your preferred date.
Will suppliers deliver bulk materials to addresses throughout Caddo Parish, including rural areas?
Many local suppliers and haulers service both city and rural addresses in Caddo Parish, but availability varies by zip code and site access. Rural deliveries may have additional fees for distance or difficult access, and some trucks need reasonable turnaround space. Provide clear delivery directions and photos at checkout to help haulers plan. Check your zip code on our site or contact our team to confirm service to your address.
How do I estimate how many tons of material I need for a driveway or backyard project in Caddo Parish?
Measure the area (length x width) and decide the target depth in inches, then use a material calculator to convert cubic feet to tons—most calculators are available on our site. As a rough guide, 1 inch of material over 100 square feet equals about 0.3 tons, but densities vary by material. Always order a small overage (5-10%) to account for compaction, uneven grades, and spillage. Contact our sales team with your measurements for a quick estimate.
What should I consider when choosing materials for erosion control on slopes in Caddo Parish?
For slopes, prioritize materials that stabilize soil, promote drainage, and resist washout during heavy rains. Use a combination of heavier aggregates at the base, erosion-control fabrics, and vegetation or mulch to lock soil in place. Avoid fine materials that easily wash away; instead, choose well-graded mixes that interlock. Factor in slope angle, runoff patterns, and local rainfall intensity when planning the solution.
How do I decide between different materials for common landscaping and drainage tasks in Caddo Parish?
Match the material to function: choose permeable, well-draining mixes for drainage, compactable blends for driveways, and decorative blends for surface areas where appearance matters. Consider durability in humid conditions and whether the material will be walked, driven over, or exposed to standing water. Regional sourcing affects color and texture, so request images or samples if aesthetics matter. If uncertain, use our aggregate quiz or call our team for a recommendation based on your project goals.
Are there local rules or permits I should check before ordering bulk materials in Caddo Parish?
Local regulations can affect driveways, curb cuts, and stormwater management in Caddo Parish; check with your parish or city building department for permits or right-of-way rules before delivery. Some neighborhoods or HOAs may have restrictions on visible surface materials or delivery truck access. Confirm permit needs early in planning to avoid delays and coordinate delivery timing accordingly. When in doubt, our team can help you identify common permitting issues to investigate.
How does pricing and availability in Caddo Parish compare to nearby areas in the Louisiana region?
Pricing and availability in Caddo Parish reflect local geology, supplier density, and trucking distance; some materials may be more common and less expensive locally while specialty blends cost more. Nearby metro areas can influence market rates, but regional sourcing usually keeps costs competitive. Seasonal demand and supply-chain factors can cause short-term price swings, so get a quote for current pricing. We provide transparent quotes and can compare options across nearby suppliers to help you find the best fit.
