Local Insights
West Phalia, a city of 50,000, sits within a steadily growing metro region of 2.5+ million residents. With a measured growth rate of 0.40% annually, construction and landscaping demand in the area tends to be steady and predictable rather than boom-driven — meaning homeowners and contractors can plan projects with reasonable lead time. The local climate, in hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, favors outdoor improvements that balance sun exposure and occasional heavy rains. That mix drives demand for a range of bulk materials — from stable base aggregates and drainage-friendly sands to quality topsoils, mulches, and erosion-control products. For West Phalia homeowners, choosing well-graded, locally sourced materials helps projects last longer, control runoff, and support plantings suited to the sunny, moderately wet conditions.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Prices vary by material type, local supplier, and haul distance. Hello Gravel displays transparent per-ton and per-truck pricing in checkout for materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone, and other aggregates—check your zip code to see local rates. Minimum orders and delivery fees can affect the per-ton cost, so use the material calculator or request a quote for an accurate estimate.
You order online and Hello Gravel connects you with a local supplier and contracted hauler who delivers by dump truck (typically tri-axle). Standard delivery is generally 2+ business days with a next-day option for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee; drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion. Provide access details and desired drop location in Order Notes so the hauler can plan the safest and most efficient delivery.
Start by calculating area (20x20 = 400 square feet) and choose the desired finished depth in inches based on use; most driveway top layers are 3-4 inches, with a deeper compacted base as needed. Use Hello Gravel's material calculator to convert depth and area into tons for materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone, then multiply by local per-ton pricing to get a rough cost and request a quote for a precise number.
Two inches is generally too thin for a permanent driveway surface and may lead to rutting or washout, especially in seasonal weather. For a durable surface plan on 3-4 inches for the top layer and additional base depth if subgrade is soft; the right depth depends on expected traffic, material choice, and soil—consult our team or a local contractor for site-specific guidance.
Truck capacity varies by region, but a typical tri-axle truck carries roughly 10-12 tons (about 10-12 cubic yards); exact load sizes depend on local hauler and material density. Pricing depends on the material, distance, and disposal or staging needs; Hello Gravel shows truckloads, per-ton costs, and delivery options during checkout so you can compare costs quickly.
Ordering in larger quantities to meet the minimum order, choosing standard delivery windows, and selecting regionally sourced materials often lowers per-ton cost. Compare material types and grades for your project needs, use the online calculator, and check for free delivery options in your zip code to get the best value.
Match material properties to the job: prioritize durability and compaction for driveways, permeability for drainage, and appearance for decorative landscaping. Materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone each perform differently, so use our aggregate quiz or contact sales for recommendations based on West Phalia's local conditions and your project's needs.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible to request changes or cancellations. We will try to accommodate requests before the order is processed or dispatched, but changes depend on supplier and hauler schedules and are not guaranteed.
Clear a safe, level access path for a dump truck, mark the preferred drop location, and remove obstacles like low-hanging wires or vehicles. Protect paved surfaces if needed and include site-specific notes at checkout; the driver will assess conditions on arrival and decide if tailgate spreading is feasible.
Materials are regionally sourced and natural, so color, texture, and particle size can vary across deliveries. Hello Gravel notes that materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone reflect local geology—add color or texture preferences in Order Notes and contact customer service if the delivered material differs significantly from your expectations.
