Local Insights
South Hutchinson is a community of 42,913 residents where steady, incremental growth of about 0.40% annually has translated into continued demand for home improvements, infill projects, and measured construction activity rather than rapid expansion. Located in hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, the local climate supports a long growing season but also requires materials that balance moisture management and sun exposure. Homeowners increasingly favor low‑maintenance landscaping, durable hardscapes, and stormwater-conscious design—projects that rely on correctly specified bulk materials. Using appropriate mixes of gravel, sand, topsoil, mulch, and stone helps control drainage, prevent settling, and support plant health in South Hutchinson’s conditions, while regional sourcing ensures material texture and coloration reflect local geology.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Standard delivery typically takes 2+ business days from the time you place your order. Next-day delivery is often available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Final timing depends on supplier availability, truck schedules, and local road access in South Hutchinson.
Choose materials based on purpose: a compactable base for driveways and patios, a finer material for leveling, and decorative stone for finished surfaces. Think about drainage, load-bearing needs, and how the material will be used rather than color alone. Use our material calculator or contact our sales team for project-specific recommendations.
Material needs depend on area and depth. As a rule of thumb, estimate the surface area times the depth (in feet) to get cubic yards, and convert to tons with our calculator since weight varies by material. If you prefer, provide project dimensions and our team can help estimate quantities.
Delivery cost depends on distance from the supplier, load size, road access, and whether you need expedited delivery or special placement. We show transparent pricing at checkout and many orders qualify for free delivery; next-day delivery and difficult access can add fees. Minimum order size is typically 3 tons.
Most deliveries use tri-axle dump trucks that need reasonable turning and backing room. Drivers will assess access on arrival and may refuse unsafe placements; if access is tight, consider bulk drop at a safer staging area. You can note special instructions at checkout and our team will coordinate with the hauler.
Drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion and you can request it during checkout, but spreading is not guaranteed. The driver will assess safety and feasibility when onsite. For guaranteed placement or spreading, consider hiring a local landscaper or equipment rental.
Most contracted trucks are tri-axle dump trucks that commonly carry about 10 to 12 cubic yards, but capacity varies by truck and material density. Because materials like gravel, sand, dirt, and stone have different weights, a truckload in tons will vary. Our checkout shows estimated cubic yards and tons per order to help plan.
No, natural and regionally sourced materials reflect local geology, so texture and color may vary from photos. We encourage you to add preferences in the order notes and contact our team for sample pictures when possible. If the material looks substantially different than expected, reach out to customer service and we will work to resolve it.
Some cities or HOAs have rules about large truck access, overnight street parking, or temporary road closures. Check with the City of South Hutchinson or your HOA if you expect truck staging on public streets or need a long-term delivery window. We will coordinate with the hauler, but customers are responsible for any required permits.
Local climate affects drainage, compaction, and freeze-thaw performance, so pick materials suited to rain events and seasonal freezes. For example, well-draining base layers are important in areas with heavy spring rains, and installation timing matters during wet or frozen ground. Our team can recommend materials that perform well in the West Kansas area.
Contact our team as soon as possible; changes are easiest before the order is dispatched to the truck. We will do our best to accommodate requests but changes depend on supplier and hauler schedules. Order modification details and possible fees will be communicated by customer service.
Clear a stable, level area for the truck to stop and for material to be dumped, and remove low-hanging branches or obstacles. Marking the preferred drop location with cones or stakes helps the driver place material accurately. If access is limited, plan for a staging area and note special instructions at checkout.
We accept major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay through our secure online checkout, and you can choose your preferred delivery date during booking. Next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. If you need help scheduling, contact our sales team at 855-241-8884 or text 844-407-3734.
Contact customer service promptly and provide photos and order details so we can investigate. We will coordinate with the supplier and hauler to resolve the issue and explain next steps according to our policies. For full refund or return details, refer to our refund policy or ask a representative for guidance.
